I hear "Vitalani" too, I always have. I've never been able to figure out why Nala says it like that; the best I could come up with was because she was growling and talking at the same time, but still, it seems like that would simply distort the pronunciation of the name a little, not add a syllable.

Also, how did Nala know her name? Kovu had to be introduced to Simba by Zira ("Haven't you met my son, Kovu?") where as Nala knew Tani from the start, and seemed quite angry about it too!
Maybe "Vatalani" is her real name... the name Nala gave her... DUM DUM DUM!
