In a nutshell, the filmmakers felt that keeping the movie as it was originally intended. Was the what they wanted to do for the 3D conversion.

For the TLKoB theater version logic, they simply wanted/needed to trim the production by 10-15 minutes. I think there was another musical piece that was cut, too, but I couldn't identify it.

Co-director Roger Allers was asked this same question in an interview back in October of this year:
Q - The Morning Report is no longer part of the Lion King feature. Why?
A - Roger Allers: It was only included for the IMAX & first DVD release as a fun bonus feature. The song Morning Report was originally written for the stage musical. We wanted this current version to be true to the original release.
There's your official answer! By the way, for those interested in reading the whole interview, here you go: Q&A with the Directors of Disney's The Lion King!

The morning report was certainly a fun song, but I'm one of those people who really liked the original scene, it was more subtle in it's humour with Zazu in the background as opposed to the obvious direct humour of Simba acting up in the song. I haven't seen the musical without Morning Report.

Also, I wasn't aware that "Human Again" was a new addition for the DVD release of Beauty and the Beast, I'll have to watch it without it, makes me wonder if they're including it in the theatrical release this January.

I actually really like "The Morning Report." I think it's a catchy song. XD And I loved it when Simba grabbed Zazu's tailfeathers and dragged him around. The original scene was great too, but so is TMR.
