Love or Hate the Little Bugger!

I went with I love Kiara she is a perfect character. Simba is my favorite character. so how can I not love his daughter.

She's OK. She has certain points where she is a good character, most of those points being where she says something ("He says 'all the great kings of the past are up there'" "You will never be Mufasa!" "A wise king once told me 'we are one' I didn't understand him then... now I do.") Just a few examples. But I hate it when she tries to do something. She is a failure at hunting... nuff sed. I just think that for the daughter of Simba, we'd have gotten a little more complex character. In the first movie, Simba was this tortured soul of a character and the only thing keeping him from being truly happy was his broken past. And what did we get for his daughter? I rest my case.

The reason Simba is such a complex character is really Mufasas death. It shaped him in a huge way. I think Kiara is a simpler character because she has lived a much easier and protected life. Plus, Kovu and Zira are pretty complex characters, so Kiara comes off as more flat and simple compared to them.

I agree, and in this line of thinking, the problem isn't with Kiara, it's with the plot of the movie. Simba's complexity was shaped by the plot, as was Kiara's. So it isn't Kiara's fault that she isn't as complex as a hero should be. It was just bad writing. And so people don't attack me with the "Romeo and Juliet" plot argument, let me just say this. In Romeo and Juliet, the families were enemies not due to a good and evil premise. They were enemies due to a complex turn of events that led to the rivalry.

I've seen a lot of hate for Kiara, and I feel it was unjustified. This may sound crazy, but I actually like Kiara and Simba in SP! I think that many TLK fans, myself included, expected Simba to be almost exactly like Mufasa in the sequel, and expected Simba's son to be almost exactly like Simba. The more I think about it, the more unoriginal it would have been. Instead, we got SP Simba, who is a good king but has trouble because he tries too hard to be Mufasa. And we got Kiara, who is adventurous like Simba, but doesn't really want to take over the throne and doesn't grow up to be as big and powerful of a lioness as Nala did in TLK. I thought that Kiara's character was a nice contrast to Simba and Nala's characters in TLK.

Kiara gets disliked for not being that smart and being a bad huntress, but I think both of those character traits are part of what makes her interesting, and they make sense. Simba was overprotective, so she didn't have the chance to learn as much through adventures as other lions did, and of course she wouldn't have been able to develop good hunting skills because with Simba's overprotectiveness she wouldn't have been allowed to chase much more than butterflies until the day of her first real hunt. I think Kiara haters also forget to take "adult" Kiara's age into account: she's probably the lion equivalent of 15 human years, whereas adult Simba and Nala were in their early 20's in TLK. Didn't you get better at things and get smarter between ages 15 and 20? I sure did

So yeah, that's my 2 cents on Kiara XD

I`m a big Kiara fan myself, and it makes me sad to read things online where people downright bash Kiara and say they hate her, she`s stupid, etc.
I didn`t like Kiara much the very first time I watched SP, but she grew on me fairly quickly.

I personally love the fact that she is so reluctant to become Queen, at least as a cub. She is her own character, not a female version of cub Simba.
