Is Sarabi older than Sarafina?

I agree with PrincessKiara, we can't just asume that Sarabi seems wiser...for all we know, Sarafina could be a rocket scientist...

We'd never know and thats why we're here, to infer and speculate.

Judging by looks only, I'd say Sarafina is much younger than Sarabi. The Sarafina in the Bath scene looks very similar to Nala at the end of the movie, so it can be inferred that they were about the same age in both scenes. Or maybe Sarafina just looks young for her age lol..idk


However, it's not fair to say Sarabi is older simply because she looks older, because in the COL scene she doesn't look much different than she did at the end of the movie (same large chin and flatter head), and there was obviously a big age gap in both scenes. So perhaps Sarabi just looks older/wiser to begin with?

Imho though, I think the producers just made Sarabi look "older" so she stuck out from the other lionesses more. It would be hard for the audience to tell her apart from an entire pride of lookalikes after all lol.

You have a good point there. Sarabi was probably colored that way on purpose.

I actually toyed with the idea of Sarafina being younger than Sarabi in one of my recent pictures.

Even though there's no way of knowing for sure if Sarabi is considerably older than Sarafina or not, there are several official pictures of Sarabi as a young adult, from the book "Friends in Need":

Notice how her eyes and ears are bigger than they are in TLK. She's also less heavily built.

I agree with this. Sarabi is no random lioness. We have two lionesses we need to tell apart: Sarabi and Nala. One is Simba's best friend/girlfriend, the other is his mother. She had to look like she could be his mother and Nala had to look Simba's age.
Also, Sarabi had to have her own design, right? She couldn't look just like Simba and Nala. Sarafina is more of a random lioness. (We're lucky to know her name) She's just Nala's mother, so they made her look like Nala. Nala looks much younger than Sarabi, so Sarafina looks younger than her too.



They're all random, except for Sarabi and Nala.

Very good point you have there. But I beleive that Sarafina is younger. Even if her design is supposed to make her look young in the first place.

Well, it could possibly be that Sarafina is a whole lot younger than Sarabi, but just got preggers at roughly the same time, you never know.
