Oh yeah sorry I was thinking about when he came back from the jungle to the Pridelands.
That's the thingy:
Why would he go back to the Pridelands through the desert, if he already knew it was the long way?

Maybe it was the only way? And I don`t think Simba would know any other way to get back, it`s not like he ever left the jungle while he was growing up.. He must have retraced his steps from memory or something.

Somehow I'll think the jungle is a couple days trip from Pride Lands but that would be pretty long for little Simba. I don't know really, seems like the third Lion King movie messes up things.
