They fell in love because it is the nature of animals. Simba hadn't seen anyone from his species in a very long time, not in his adolescence and not since then. Then he suddenly met Nala again, who was a flirty friend when they were little cubs.

Animals (and humans) have a strong desire to reproduce, and that desire consists of sexual attraction. And when they haven't seen one of their kind in such a long time, they will probably be attracted pretty quickly. That also explains why Mowgli suddenly fell for Shanti at the end of Jungle Book.

I just realized that I've only explained Simba's side of it. As for Nala, I don't think there were many male lions at Pride Rock who were close to Nala's age (Scar was much older, and Nuka was a cub), so I think that explains her affinity for Simba.

Nala fell inlove cause Simba was cute. She liked him if she started to pounce. If a lioness likes a boy, she will try to get attention just like boy's.

I think it was because they could relate a bit..
But I agree, it did seem a bit rushed. Instead of alot of the "comedy" moments, they could have used that time to work on the romance.

I would say it felt rushed there because someone decided that "children's movies" can't be more than 90 minutes log (A short movie). I love TLK as it is, but it felt rushed in many places. I will not say that I could have made a better movie, but I will say that 90 minutes is not enough.

But other than that, I guess that it was going to be obvious that they would get together. I would even say that they were made for each other.

I hear ya, even DC comics, (who even though they are making animated films for mature teens) fail to make the film long and complex..
Its rather dissapointing. It could have been longer. Should have been even.
