When i was younger i always believed (and still do) that the great kings ESPECIALLY mufasa gave him that strenghth to pull himself up and lunge at scar plus his energy because of their age difference scar is about 8 or 9 and simba is like 4 if you dont get what i mean go to viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8600

I always wondered why Mufasa couldn't have done the same thing. I think it's possible. I saw a movie in my Anatomy class talking about how our bodies can do impossible things when it is under pressure. It showed a guy that was rock climbing and fell, and a thousand pound rock fell on him. The adrenaline and extreme situation he was in made him throw the rock off him. The same thing probably happened to Simba. He was angry, and he was in danger.

if he front-flipped up it'd look a little more believeable to me...but I guess Disney just wants us to think he gained supernatural powers temporarily from the sheer emotional impact of Scar's confession

I believe that his leap was definatly involved with his strenght + adredalin. He got really enranged when he found out the truth and the one thing that taunted him all his years growing up. The moment Scar told him who really killed Mufasa, Simba was right into shock, thus giving him that emotional powerful strenght to backdown Scar and force him to tell what really happened. Enrangement is one of those things that bring the strenght inside of someone based one the situation. Simba has this enrangement to Scar when he leaped.

An adrenaline rush causes the muscles to perform respiration at an increased rate improving strength.

I heard on a show called "Weird or What?" that the body of any mammal can summon immense strength when in a life threatening moment. Simba was clinging for dear life and maybe when Scar told him the truth, Simba's body finally was able to tap in to that source of strength, thus jumping up and landing on Scar.

And if thats not how it happened than it must be one of those Disney rescues.
