Simba's Fighting Skills

A combination of the first 3 poll options, but I voted for "it came naturally." Like KM said, fighting is a natural instinct in lions, and even as small cubs they are practicing fighting moves they’ll use as adults.
Simba had learned pouncing/stalking from Mufasa, but it was the Nala-Flip that gave him the victory against Scar.
Simba definatly learned a lot before he was exiled, and I’m sure Timon and Pumbaa taught him nothing of fighting. So I think he built on what he had already learned while staying in the jungle.

During the fight with Scar, I think it came naturally, through pure instinct. Simba, being a lion, instinctivly knew how to fight, and with a little help from a certain move he picked up from Nala, he won.

I voted for "It came naturally," cause I think that's the most relative answer, although all of those options probably did contribute to Simba's fighting skills overall. Lion cubs learn a lot of the skills they need in later life when they are young, through play and observation, and while Simba didn't exactly have the easiest cub-hood, we still know he learned some things from Muffy and by playing with Nala, but probably not as much as he would have if things didn't go the way they did. While I think he might have learned a thing or two about fighting while he spent his time in the jungle (as shown during the scene when he's trying to protect Pumbaa and Timon from getting eaten by Nala when they first reunite), I doubt he really learned much from them in regards to fighting at all. I think brute strength did play a part in his victory over Scar but like I stated, I think the choice of it coming naturally is best suited for this poll. Like Mike stated, fighting is sort of a natural instinct for lions and regardless whether one has been taught how to fight or not, if they feel threatened or are pushed to the point where fighting is their only means of survival, anyone would be able to dish out a punch or two no matter how skilled they may have been. I think Simba was going off pure hatred towards Scar by that point in the movie and after seeing his mother being abused, knowing that Scar killed his father and having his own uncle being on the brink of killing him, that would trigger his natural defense mechognisms as a lion. ^^ Same would probably go for any creature actually, but yeah, that's just my two cents.

Instincts, flight or fight response, adrenaline, him practicing all the time (well he did goof off a lot and that's indirectly practicing; think of cubs), etc.

I presume there are a future factors to this.

I think it came naturally as well. As KM said, lion cubs do learn a lot of vital skills when they are young. I think it was based on instinct as well. If someone was trying to injure or kill me I would be throwing a few good punches pretty quickly!

In SP he couldn't fight off Zira and them; he had to run away- i bet if he had the proper training he could have killed them all then and there.
This teaches kids that being lazy when young (Hakuna Matata) makes ya a weako.

lol, a whole pride against just one lion. I don't think even Simba could have won against those odds even if he had been trained better to fight.

Even with the "proper training" that you said would help Simba, Kovu (who spent his entire life training to fight) gets knocked out by one kick from Vitani within 5 seconds of his first real fight

I think Simba's strength attributes more than anything when he's fighting. It helped him beat Scar and it helped him throw the Outlander lionesses off his back.

It didn`t seem like a fight where any of them had any skills of any kind. Just lashing out at one another. So I don`t think any training was needed.

I remember when the movie had just been released, some reviewers said that that particular fight scene might be too violent for children. But when we wached it in school, everybody, particularly the boys, just cheered and rooted for Simba. Nobody was disturbed.

It came naturally, I just think that since his father was like the Jackie Chan of the Pride Lands that he would naturally know a thing or two about fighting.
Or at least, that would seem to be the most obvious explanation / choice ^^.
