Well, when the new CEO took over, they were supposed to stop making the cheapquels.... But, that's not gonna happen...

Well, TLK was made. For some of us, that's plenty. Maybe it'd be even more special if sequels/midquels weren't made. But then again, Kovu wouldn't have been created :disgust:

i don't mind TLK2.. its actually really good, for being a cheapquil, they need to explain were in the heck Zira came from, but w/e... at least the TLK2 story, and the story of Kopa line up... It could be why Zira was banished, and Nuka would have been old enough to have been there to meet Kopa, but the Kovu story doesn't match, if Nuka is as old as he is, then how was Kovu there too, without Nuka having been in the first one? ok, i got sidetracked.. sorry..

But i think that TLK 1.5 was only an attempt to squeeze more money out of the TLK series.... If they make a new TLK movie, it either needs too explain all the flaws of the current series, or it needs to explain Muffy, Sarabi, Scar, and Sarafina's cubhood.

as for the Pops comment by Simba I just think Timon and Pumbaa are just the adoptive/surrogate parents of Simba. it was not meant to be a replacement for Mufasa..

besides young men call older men Pops who are not relate to them all the time.. like with the name Sonny boy or Son for young men

though yeah, I don't like they cut out/ignored Pumbaa's story.. we all know he's more than a stinky warthog,, but it must have been due to time constraints..

also, I don't like how young Simba treated Timon like a ragdoll in the movie, ignored Timon telling him to come down from a tree.. and even worse floating down a river without noticing the waterfall at the end.. and poor timon's the one who falls down it because of Simba.. :headache:

Still, after what happened to Simba and how it marked his life, that's not really acceptable.

Haha, he was just a kid though. They had to emphasize how difficult parenthood would be for a meerkat and a warthog as the parents and a LION cub as a son.

Moka, I have to disagree with one of your positive points in the original post. I thought TLK 1.5 did a lousy job of staying in character, not that TLK2 wasn't guilty of it as well, but it at least made a bit of sense. In TLK, Timon was a wise-cracking New York stand-up comedy type, who at the same time was very loyal. Pumbaa was a little socially outcast, but he was also very compassionate. These things add depth to the characters. In TLK2 they were kinda flat. Timon lost all of his sensitivity and timing (a MUST for comedians), and Pumbaa lost some his hidden brains (you know, the ones that Timon takes credit for). Then, come 1.5, Timon had absolutely NO sense of loyalty to Simba and Pumbaa was a ditz, to be blunt. Not only that, but now the characters are as flat as pancakes AND the focus of the movie. Very... Boring. Incredibly... Tacky.

And your comment about the voice actors: I do like the fact that they DID get the original voice actors for this, but there were new characters as well. Ma and Uncle Max. Those voice actors, though famous, were NOT suited for those characters, in my opinion. Ma's voice was too grating and annoying, and Max was a little wimpy to have ever been a sentry.

There's more I could say about TLK1.5, but none of it is positive, and I don't have the time for a 1000 word rant. 8-)

I didn't like this movie at all. Pumbaa and Timon were never my favorites in TLK, but I could tolerate them. After they made 1.5, I just couldn't stand them anymore! One of the biggest things I noticed about it was the timing... it was waaay off. OKay, one day, Simba is born and the next, he's singing IJCWTBK ? In the original, you can use your imagination and say "OK, Simba has had time to grow up." but in 1.5, it's a stretch. that whole scene just bothers me. Some people like 1.5 much better than SP, but not me. I liked SP waaay better - plotholes and everything.
