Well, Kovu shut his eyes when Zira clawed him, it would be normal for the claw to cut the skin around the eye and not directly the eye itself. That explains why his eye wasn't damaged.

Yeah. And also the eye of a lion as well as a human's eye is deeper within the socket than the eyebrow part and underneath part.

Another thing about this is is that if you look at how Zira cracks Kovu in the face, she swipes diagonally from the right, down. While in many of the pictures the scar is either angled straight up, left-down, on the wrong side, or not there at all!

Yes!! The cut was shown diagonally but the cut doesn't look like it was cut diagonally.

I know this topic might be kinda irritating, but this was something I've been wondering about ever since I saw this movie and I think it's a very important thing to point out.

Well, I know Lion's have an extra eyelid of sorts to help with hunting and stuff, so maybe that played a small part in protecting the actual eye of Kovu. Or maybe Zira struck him hard, but not hard enough to cause any real damage, other than the scar. Also, since we haven't seen Kovu in the future from when TLK2SP took place, we don't really know if it's a permanant scar or not. ^^ I think TLK2SP ended quite shortly after Zira died (supposedly ^^) and the Outlanders were accepted into the main Pride. ^^ So perhaps Kovu won't even have his scar in the next TLK movie but I think he most likely will, just to act as a symbol of who his father was...or wasn't. lol. Yeah, that's another topic people love to debate but I won't get into that one. hehe. ^^
