fact is, indeed, that right after the heavy death of Mufasa and Simba beeing chased off, the comic reliefs (man i hate that word!) Timon and Pumbaa come in to cheer those sad kiddies up.
What I remember beeing a kid, is that those got me even more sad, because they never took the time to ask Simba what's really bothering him. Otherwise Simba could have gone back to Pride Rock way earlier....sorry, offtopic ;)

Well, if Simba had gone to Pride Rock as a teenager, Scar would've killed him... And I wonder what Timon and Pumbaa would've said if they heard that Simba had killed his own father.

It doesn't bother me,but let me tell you that when I was young, I didn't understand what was happening in the movie, but when I saw it again, I really got the point of the movie

So? Who cares? I'm sure if you went deep into the mind of even the friendliest person you'd find something terribly disturbing. Life is full of disturbing things, and they're only disturbing if you don't understand them.

And so what if theres something slightly disturbing in a kids film?

Life is pretty disturbing sometimes, so why shield your kids from it? Jeez. Your kids will get more messed up watching the News on TV.
Laterrrr...

it doesn't bother me. if you've noticed Disney often kills off the parent(s) of a main character (Snow White, Cinderella, Bambi, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, The Wild, etc.). that's because that's what happens in real life. TLK and the other movies have that concept to help kids cope with loss easier. and then their movies do have to have a plot, I hate it when the make movies without villains cause it totally kills the movie's effect (FatH2). it's also the whole good vs. evil thing to show kids that good always prevails.

plus it's already been said that TLK is for everybody, not just kids. that's why it's "Delightful Disney fun for the whole family!" and it's not like that sort of stuff bothers little kids, there's no cases of anyone being psychologically scarred for life due to TLK  heck, I'd watched Jurassic Park at age 2 and turned out just fine.

When I was tiny, land before time was the first movie I saw with a death scene. It was just about the saddest thing that had ever happened to me. But I think it's a good thing that I'd been through it, it helps kids grow and learn about the world.
