Morning Report is not really one of my favorite songs in the movie. Infact I always set the movie up for original theatric viewing. Basically for everything you guys said. It didn't really seem natural. It works for the Broadway show not the actual movie itself. So, yeah IMO it was better off left off the dvd.

Nearly full agreement with you there.

I've never seen the broadway production, but in the movie, "The Morning Report" was a song that really did not work there. It almost feels like Disney just tacked it on as an excuse for another song. The scene worked so much better without it. (Simba's "pouncing lesson" was so much more amusing the old way, I think  )

I don't think it's that myself, but you can skip it on the DVD version if you must.

I believe the song, although not one of my favourites, isn't completely terrible. Although the original was better ^^
But what I really like is the scene itself, Simba's so cute in it :)

I think the fact that I enjoyed the original version of the scene better makes the song SEEM worse in my head.

You loved the original scene so much that you delude yourself into hating the replacement, even though it might not have been half-bad. The scene accompanying that song would probably be one of more poorly-done scene in TLK, and yet it still out-does almost everything else I see in most other movies...that's just how awesome I find that movie.

Still, to me the song is one of those that classifies under the "stuck in my head and can't get it out" category of songs. Maybe if I listen to it a few more times I'll learn to like it a bit more.
