Why all the hate?

For me TLK3 felt too much like a cash cow - it's easy to see when a company stops creating because they enjoy it and starts creating because the fan base is big enough to generate more revenue. I just felt like they didn't try very hard with it and hoped it would haplessly ride on the success of the other movies.

That said, I don't hate it, I just don't feel attached to it in the way I do TLK1 or even TLK2.

TLK 1.5 was funny; I don't really see why people dislike it so much.

I wouldn't say I hate it. It's funny and I like Timon in this film the most. I remember this feeling when I saw the adverts of this in TV. And it reminds me of year 2004 - the last year when Disney produced animated films.
But yeah, I understand some people dislike it. The reason I loved TLK were lions. Though I like Timon very much.
Life's not fair, is it?

It's mainly because a majority of TLK fans, including myself, are much more attached and interested towards the lion characters that were in the first and second movies (even Rafiki doesn't get as much hate as Timon and Pumbaa do). I don't hate T&P to the core, but I'm not a big fan of them like I am towards the main characters and they already had a show about them, so why repeat the same idea for this movie? There could've been a prequel showing the turmoil between Mufasa and Scar beginning as cubs and how their childhoods were like, giving Scar and Mufasa bigger character developments which would lead to them as adults in the first movie. There could've been a scene where Mufasa and Sarabi met and how their relationship grew, including Mufasa's friendships between Zazu and Rafiki. Heck, even showing how the kingship and loyalties towards the lions all began in the Pridelands. That would've been a much more interesting movie than what we recieved with 1.5. If it took place around the time of the original movie, I would've also wanted to see Simba and Nala meeting as cubs for the first time because that would've been such a cute scene. Plus, see more interactions between Simba and Sarabi and Mufasa and Sarabi between there aren't much of them shown in the first movie.

I think the reason is that it goes under the name of TLK. It doesn't feel like it if it's almost all about T&B

I will not argue with the fact that, for some people is not very nicely to watch a movie about uninteresting for them characters under TLK name (though they are TLK characters.)
But I can not agree with that it is not honestly to make film about characters who were in other movies. TLK 3 is made to show characters feelings and made them more depth, what is not in other films.
But every man to his taste...
