I voted for "I was just trying to be brave, like you..."
Not only is it cute, but a large part of Simba's character growth can relate back to that line. He has to overcome his fears to return to Pride Rock and to overthrow Scar i.e. bravery :)

Gosh yes, very well said. Also for me, it serves as a little nod to how Simba measures himself up to Mustafa. (Coming so soon after comparing his paw print too.) Maybe his royal life so far had been quite a pressured one, especially considering that he has a father who seems to be a very dedicated and professional king, and is obviously keen for Simba to be the same.

I am the only guy who voted for option 4, but specifically because of this line:

"You said you'd always be there for me!"

You can really hear it in his emotion just how much Simba feels betrayed at being lead to believe that Mufasa will always be there, but whenever he looks up at the night sky, all he sees are the same old stars that were there before, and no Mufasa to guide him.

The 'I know what I have to do...' quote is quite profound and I chose that, forgetting that I'd also earmarked 'I was trying to be brave, like you...' as one I liked. So between those, maybe. :)

I like this line because I think Simba was starting to trust Kovu here and had begun to realize that Kovu was nothing like Scar.
