Who Would Make the Best Ruler?

Definitely Mufasa, in my opinion. He's wise, strong, understanding, and aware of what a kingdom needs for it to work. Yes, Simba is strong and understands the circle of life, but not as wise and seems kinda dishonest really; remember when he kept breaking promises as a cub?
As for Kiara... well, she isn't exactly strong, and she doesn't seem to care about being Queen anyway, so she may well leave the Pridelands in tatters. She's also a bimbo lol xD

as far as i'm concerned i do think that Simba would be the best king because Mufasa is to trusting. You already saw it with Scar he just kept him in his land and you see that's the thing that eventually cost him his life i think that Simba does that better because he doesn't immediantly trust everyone when everything points at them they shouldn't be trusted(Kovu)

That's merely a misconception. You percieve male lions as leaders when they are guardians. There are rarely true 'leaders' in the animal kingdom.

It doesn't matter, however, because in SP Simba speaks of Kiara being crowned as queen when she grows up. Kovu, Nala, and Sarabi probably had some influence, but it's the bloodline that counts.

Based on the rules of a monarchy, Kovu cannot be King regnant (or just King) so the highest title he can earn is King/Prince consort (a title given to the husband of a reigning queen). When Simba dies or abdicates from power, Kiara will crowned Queen regnant (or just Queen) because she is the Queen in her own right as she is Simba's blood heir.

As for the main topic, my first instinct would say Mufasa because he has very strong and very wise, which Simba lacked in at first. Also, the kingdom under Mufasa's reign was prosperous and peaceful, which, in no doubt, comes from a strong, capable leader in power.

But, Simba gets my vote. Everything DGFone wrote is right on the mark. But, I would like to add on to his list.

This is why I chose Simba: He proved himself to be a capable leader while having these hardships to face:
d) Increased the strength of his pride: When Simba let the Outsiders enter his pride, his pride is even more stronger than from it previously was, as there are more members in his pride to protect his kingdom from invasion or whatnot.
e) Managed to keep peace during the "Cold War": Simba managed to keep the Pridelands peaceful despite the feud he had with the Outsiders. Similiar to how the U.S. managed to restrain itself from direct war from the Soviet Union despite their political differences. Although the Pridelanders did have a war with the Outsiders, it was started by Zira; even after the Outsiders ambushed Simba (which was started by Zira), Simba, assumingly, still had no desire to start a war with the Outsiders. Zira wanted the war, so Simba's pride had to fight the Outsiders to get them off their land.

Simba's reign was faced with a difficult crisis while Mufasa's reign was more easier and didn't have major conflicts as far as the movies show.

My vote goes to Mufasa. He has always been a perfect example of what a good leader should be like. Kind and righteous, yet firm and strict when he has to be. I believe it had a lot to do with the fact that Mufasa had some royal training from his father, so he was taught of how a king should be. Even though qualities like that might be just in someone despite not having any directions from someone,I think it played a crucial role when you look at how the kingdom was ruled by Mufasa. It was peaceful and in a very good balance. I don't think that the way he died by the hands of Scar was something any king would predict, since it was his brother the he trusted in... Well,he didn't trust him to an extent that would be nearly foolish,but he surely trusted him to an extent that he wouldn't kill him.
Simba however never got the chance to complete his father's teachings and lived in the jungle for most of his life, so he didn't have the qualities that Mufasa did. Simba did make a great king after all, but I think Mufasa was still a better king. And more to the fact,we don't really see how Kiara was as a queen,but I'm guessing she wouldn't be as good as her father and grandfather, for the fact that she is too emotional.

I voted for Simba for the reasons that have already been stated, I also want to add that Simba did something many Kings are to arrogant to do. He admired that he was wrong, no ruler can ever be perfect and the ability for a King to recognize that in himself is a huge asset when it comes to ruling a kingdom. Also assuming that when Simba first took the throne he did indeed rely on the counsel of his mother and other elder lionesses to help him rule. Let me say this, a wise king listens to his counsel.

I would also like to address the fact that some people think that Simba was unfair to Kovu, please keep in mind that Kovu originaly came to the Pride Lands to Kill Simba. Simba's instinct regarding Kovu was right on the money, it was only due to Kiara's love that Kovu was able unlock what was truly in his heart from the cage of evil and hatred that Zira had placed it in. (metaphorically speaking).

I think Kiara will make a fine queen one day. At the end of SP, she`s still very young. She`ll learn and mature with time. She is kind and warm-hearted and has a strong sense of right and wrong. To quote Nala: "She`ll be fine."
