What happened to Pumbaa's family?

I think a predator ate his family but because of Pumbaa's stench, the predator didn't bother with him.

Either that, or because of his stink, his family ran off.

I think he became old enough to leave his family, but refused because he's childish. His family stopped providing for him and he felt all alone.

While TLK1&1/2 gave a definitive origin for Timon, since there was practically no mention of Pumbaa's backstory, one could say that the origin episode from the Timon & Pumbaa series still stands as canon, at least until disproven like Timon's.
