Why the allegations?

It seems to me you're trying very desperately (and failing) to use two or three different entities and their opinions to fabricate a notion that makes your opinion seem more factual than the true fact.

Which gets down to my basic point: This is all an opinion not an actual fact. Everyone thinks differently about the subject.

Rather odd to think differently when something is so obviously, clearly and undeniably fact oO

*Sighs*

Again, this is my opinion. I never mentioned you had to think otherwise; I was just saying that everyone has their opinion on the matter, none of these are actually official. (I guess if we ask a member of Disney...) Lol.

I think we're all (including me) just confused on terminology.

Can we define canon characters as characters that originate from the movies (aka directly made by Disney)? And then can we define official characters as characters that originate from books and comics (characters that at any point in time were accepted/approved/developed by Disney)? Everything else inherently must be fanon.

  • So Simba would be canon and official.
  • Kovu would be canon (even though TLK2:SP was not a canon movie) and official.
  • Kopa would not be canon, but would be official.
  • Mheetu would not be canon, but would be official (because at some point Disney was developing this character).
  • And so on.

Perhaps if this terminology was expressed somewhere it would be easier on all of us.

Aha! We have (pretty much) an official answer! Thank you, Moka for ceasing arguements and actually giving the real information. So Kopa is official then?

I believe Kopa shouldn't be considered as "fanmade". Disney was developing him at some point but was later dropped from production and instead stuck into the books. He is still owned by Disney and Co. so therefore he is still a legit character.

TBH until now I never knew there was a difference between "canon" and "official." Now that the difference has been stated, it seems a lot less important to me :\ So what if he was in the books and not the films? No reason to pick on him and his fans >.>
