pride lands - stampede place - jungle distance

I agree. That didn't look like Pride Rock at all, especially considering how fast Scar climbed up it and how soon after the three of them reached Simba. It looks like Mufasa and Zazu were just on a regular border patrol through the Pridelands and just happened to be near the gorge.

Priderock definitely isn't super close to the gorge, they were just on patrol.

When it comes to what happened/how things were portrayed in TLK 3, I wouldn`t put much thought or credibility in it, especially not the scenes that were taken from the original movie.

That being said.. The Desert is somewhere beyond the gorge, it`s like the gorge leads to it. When the Hyenas chase Simba out of the gorge, he falls down a hillside and crosses a huge thicket-thing of thorns. Then he appears to start on his wandering in the Desert.
I`m not sure how long a young lion cub would last in the Desert, but being small, weak and young, Simba wouldn`t have been able to walk huge distances each day. So I don`t think the Desert is that vast, it didn`t seem to take Timon and Pumbaa long to get to the oasis after saving Simba, and then finally to the jungle.

Also, as an adult, Simba returns to the Pridelands by crossing the Desert.

I agree, and I think that he outlands and the desert are kinda the same thing.

Maybe it was the only way? And I don`t think Simba would know any other way to get back, it`s not like he ever left the jungle while he was growing up.. He must have retraced his steps from memory or something.
