Mufasa's death is the.....

It is quite often mentioned as one of the saddest parts of any Disney movie, up there with Bambi's mother. The effects of Bambi's mother are negated a little though by a cut to a bright scene, whereas with the Lion King we witness Simbas Father die, Simba get Exiled, the Hyenas chase Simba upon Scar's orders, then cut to a dark scene of the lions mourning with Scar taking over with the Hyenas, then another cut to a scene of what looks like Simba dead.

The death scene was probably the most important part of the movie. Without Muffy's death, Simba wouldn't have run away and Scar wouldn't have become king, resulting in a completley different TLK movie... 0_o I'm not saying that a different kind of movie is a bad thing, of course. Muffy's death was sad, but it needed to happen, unfortunatly.... :(
cliffhanger is what they call such a moment, right? but yeah, this moment is very crucial in the movie since it changes simbas life and makes him, the main character, what he is today :P
No, it's called a plot twist lol. Cliffhanger is when the movie ends at a crucial point.

It's pretty much everything WS and FM said... It's meant to give you negative emotions... and see cubby Simba in a different way.

This tragedy is very important in shifting the course in Simba's life, it makes him who he eventually becomes. Unfortunately that is not necessarily a good thing.
I think it was even more evil when he told his own brother "long live the king" and released his grip. It takes a truely nasty person to kill anyone from their own family.

But this means to the movie, exactly what Flip said. It's meant to make a negative emotion on someone. Some people can certainly relate to this, and that's why they did it. It's also a way of helping people cope with their lives. It makes people understand that even though life is harsh sometimes, you still have to remember who you are.

And I aswell to this day, think it's one of cinemas greatest scenes, and a very good emotion inflicting scene, aswell.
yea

The scene reminds me of shakespears - romeo and julietta. mufasa is made as romeo but cubby simba julietta XD! All tough i dont rememmber did romeo died, i think yes. but if the death wasnt in the movie it wouldnt be great and simba would never meet timon and pumbaa. The scene was sad :cry2:

Supposedly officially one of the saddest moments of cinema history.
