It's a very purposeful detail. Kiara is visiting all the places she was with Kovu and seeing all the tings that she did with him. It deepens the mood and Kiara's sadness over losing Kovu. Since the star gazing sequence is where they first started to really get close/fall in love, seeing the same constellations is VERY powerful.
