So, I was thinking it over, and I was wondering why they had made Nuka die. He died trying to avenge his father, like we all probably would have. Nobody deserves to die, but did they WANT him to? So, you tell me, if you think he should have died. RIP Nuka
I feel the only reason why he died is to gain Zira's attention and approval. So,no he didn't deserve to die the way he did
His death was actually really sad for me. I loved Nuka. his death though was used to make Zira angrier and start a full on war between the Pridelands and the Outlands. So his death was an important part of the film.
Nuka's death was not totally necessary. More of just another thorn in Zira's back. Zira cared very little for Nuka anyway. Her pain of loss was very little. Her anger was little when it should have been great. She was blind to the fate she choose for her own son. It was her blind hatred, power hunger, and jealousy that lead to not only, her son, Nuka's death but her own. Nuka only wanted to please his mother. Which was impossible. She did nothing but made him feel better as he died. More than likely she was only disappointed in him. Honestly I think Nuka's death was pointless. All it did was prove how hurtful she still is even after the death of her son. She had very little capacity to love. Maybe I'm missing something, but she didn't seem too hurt that she lost her son. More of a "little" upset. Overall I think his death only lead to a war between the two prides.
I can't imagine him to turn on Simba's side since he wanted to be king as bad as Scar did. His death was needed for a "good ending"

You know, I honestly never thought of that but that is a GREAT observation. And I think you may be right.

Nope. To me it always seemed like he was trying to please his mother and get attention. It almost seemed as if he didn't really care about Scar's motives and avenging his death, but just wanted attention, it made him almost misunderstood. I mean even his dying words suggest that.
I didn't want him to die but it makes sense. I think him and Zira would be the only two who wouldn't have turned at the end. So they both were willing to die for their own cause and both did. Also the fact that Zira didn't really care about him until after he died made it all the more emotional I thought.
Also in the full storytelling framework, Nuka was a physical manifestation of the concept of the "jealous brother of the king". Scar was also that symbol, but Nuka was different he served as a matyr for that symbol, and him dying showed the death of that symbol. Causing Zira to realize not only that kovu was a traitor to her, but that symbol, that was scar and nuka, was dead. So I think it was necessary, but it was a very sad death indeed.
