The first few times I watch TLK.. I always cried! Now I've gotten used to it, there are other movies where deaths are sadder I think. Still very, very sad. :(

While Mufasa's death seems to continuously top "Saddest Disney Moment/Death" lists that I see on youtube, his actual death isn't what I find sad. More so Simba's reaction to it. It's like his initial "Dad?" shows that he doesn't quite believe that he's dead, and then his attempts to wake him up just show his increasing desperation. Then when he finally gives up and starts crying I feel like Simba's childhood innocence just dies right there.

It wasn't something I really picked up on as a child but now that I'm older and on the cusp of adulthood it just seems so poignant to me.

I don't know 'cause I do never see anything so sad in the death scenes if they doesn't remind me of something that have really happened to me IRL. But if had to choice between yes or no I'd say "yes" since I have really no interest towards to the other Disney movies

Idk man there's also these few minutes at the starting of Up... But as a child I think it didn't touch me as MUCH anyways, I mean, I don't remember crying, but surely remember being all ":c mum did the die?" and then being quiet for a while. I'd say it's one of the saddest, since there's also bambi's mother death(movie I never watched really)

Yes it is. Okay, to expand more, Mufasa's death is the only Disney death that really brought emotion into me. To sound cruel, even Bambi's mom getting shot didn't really evoke any emotion in me. Mufasa on the other hand... yeah, that hurts quite a bit.

I think the reason is that Mufasa is the first major good character that you actually see both die, and see the consequences of. In Bambi, you only hear a gunshot. Not in TLK, and I think that makes all the difference.
