Different Lines.

Different Lines.

Postby Meskhenet » August 3rd, 2012, 1:09 am

I've noticed that three different words were used in the subtitles in The Lion King movie.
Scar- Oh, Zazu don't be rediculous all you need is a little garnish.
Special Edition- Oh, Zazu don't be ridiculous all you need is a little dung.
Diamond Edition- Oh, Zazu don't be ridiculous all you need is a little garlic.

I wonder why that is.

Different translations, perhaps? It's a bit odd, though.

Perhaps the person typing the subtitles just misunderstood Scar for some reason.

Movies do seem to get new subs whenever it's released again.

The Dutch subs for TLK DVD are different from the first VHS release too.
The thing that is visible the most is, that on the VHS, all songs are actually translated into Dutch, so the subs are very different then what they actually sing in the Dutch dub.

On the DVD, they didn't translate the songs anymore, they just used the exact same words for the subs as the lyrics they used in the Dutch songs.
So basicly, you still didn't had a clue what the real translations of the songs were.

What? How exactly is dung appetizing to a lion? (or hyena?) Whoever wrote that subtitle... :?

Must be another strike of ze Engrishes.

I don't see the point in re-subtitling the English version, but another language can suffer subtitle transnational errors.
