Did Simba and Nala *liked* each other as cubs?

Have you people ever read Calvin and Hobbes? There`s a girl at Calvin`s age, Susie, who he constantly mocks and teases, but the writer of the series himself has said that Calvin is a little smitten by her. And yet, when Hobbes teases Calvin about Susie and says he`s in love with her, Calvin gets furious.

I specifically remember one series of stripes where I think they looked at Calvin`s horoscope and they found out that Calvin would be lucky with the ladies that week. Calvin got so scared he almost cried and tried to escape school.

But still the writer tries to give us the intention that Calvin likes her, he probably knows how children react to these feelings. So I don`t think Simba and Nala going "Ewww" proves that they were nothing but friends.

Not that I have anything against it, but why do most people think that if only one of them had feelings for the other, it would be Nala? For me it seems pretty equal.

I don't really understand it either, actually. If I had to guess it would be because of Nala's more enthusiastic reaction during the reunion scene, but there are other reasons for that.

The question I have to ask is why wouldn't Simba like Nala?

If I had to guess, I don`t think it`s their behaviour. I think it`s because Simba`s the main character, and everybody thinks he`s so sweet and adorable as a cub because he goes through so much. So because he`s so sweet, it`s seems more likely that somebody would have a crush on him than the other way around. Had Nala been the main character, there`s a chance it would have been the same situation.
