I never did notice him crying, I guess it was only on for like a second until he looks up at Scar, so I guess it is hard to see

The next time I saw the movie after seeing this thread, I noticed it, but before that, I never did. It's gone so quickly, and I wasn't looking directly at his eyes. Poor Simba.

Mufasa's death was the most traumatizing moment of his life. And he was really attatched to his father so it would make sense if there were tears in his eyes.
