I found the line from Hamlet cheesy. And the producers thought so too, because they had other lines in, but in the end all got removed from the final script.
I found the line, "Let the cat out of the bag", more cheesier.
Anyway, I've seen this before, and it's an interesting alternate fight scene. But, I found it strange that Simba didn't know Scar killed Mufasa up unti the final moments of the fight. Fighting Scar to avenge his father's death is more emotional, as it ties in with the father-son theme of the movie. So why is Simba fighting Scar? Maybe to become the rightful king or Simba hated how Scar treated the Pridelands.
Also, I liked the concept of Scar dangling off the cliff, and begging for help, which is exactly how Mufasa's last moments of life were. Goes to show you that what comes around goes around. I find Scar's death symbolic that he is consumed with arrogrance and pride, which represents the fires engulfing him. Finally, I didn't like that Simba didn't get his revenge.
So, I like the finalized scene because Simba gets his revenge, and that Scar's lies finally catch up with him.
