The Lion King Alternate Ending
I found the line from Hamlet cheesy. And the producers thought so too, because they had other lines in, but in the end all got removed from the final script.
I found the line, "Let the cat out of the bag", more cheesier.

Anyway, I've seen this before, and it's an interesting alternate fight scene. But, I found it strange that Simba didn't know Scar killed Mufasa up unti the final moments of the fight. Fighting Scar to avenge his father's death is more emotional, as it ties in with the father-son theme of the movie. So why is Simba fighting Scar? Maybe to become the rightful king or Simba hated how Scar treated the Pridelands.

Also, I liked the concept of Scar dangling off the cliff, and begging for help, which is exactly how Mufasa's last moments of life were. Goes to show you that what comes around goes around. I find Scar's death symbolic that he is consumed with arrogrance and pride, which represents the fires engulfing him. Finally, I didn't like that Simba didn't get his revenge.

So, I like the finalized scene because Simba gets his revenge, and that Scar's lies finally catch up with him.

It seems a bit inconsistent to me. In SP, Nuka burns himself but he doesn't get completely engulfed in flames. So, why, then, would Scar let the fire consume him?

I think it is because Scar was too caught up in celebrating his victory over Simba to notice he is being burned alive.

Well look at it this way: Simba defeats Scar, but Scar stabs him in the back yet again and therefore technically wins the fight. Then Scar celebrates, and that leads to his death by fire. Simba, who survives the fall because of a tree (would hurt a lot, by the way) survives the battle and becomes the new king, even though practically, he lost the fight. Even to this day, I find this alternate ending more confusing.

Not to mention that if Simba had already knew that Scar killed Mufasa, then he would have never had run off to the jungle, nor would he have hesitated to return after Nala found him. But because in the final version, he thinks that it was he who killed Mufasa, Simba has a very legitimate reason for running away.

Also, in the final version, Scar is killed of by the Hyena,s his only true friends. This death by the hands of the only ones who liked him shows just how bad he was, more than lying to Simba yet another time. Remember, he lies plenty through out the movie (well, half-truths every single time), so another time would not changed much. But for Scar to lie (unknown to him) to lie about the hyenas and therefore betray them is a much worse blow to Scar than fire could have eve given.

Fire burns everything. It is in-discriminatory. The hyenas on the other hand are more than glad to finish Scar off, symbolizing the death of the last of any sort of kindness Scar had, because up to this point, he at least took care of the hyenas as much as his laziness allowed.

I prefer the original ending.
I am also a big fan of: Phantom of the Opera, High School Musical, Harry Potter, Disney in general, Days of Our Lives, musicals in general, Dr. Seuss in general and the Grinch.

I would not for all the world want the end of the movie as-is to be changed. There is such a huge sense of power & justice in Scar getting his just desserts for all the manipulations & lies catching up to him (Not to mention how absolutely awesome it makes the Hyenas! >D ), that is lacking in the less satisfying Pyrrhic victory in the alternate ending.

Plus with the alternate ending it's sort of like...Simba had to come all the way back and be there WHY? Scar could have fiddled while Rome, er, the Pridelands burned & been incinerated in his own failed kingdom perfectly fine on his own without Simba ever interveneing or even being there.

As it stands in the movie, Simba brings with him truth. Simba was the catalyst for Scar finally crossing the wrong people, if Simba hadn't been there Scar wouldn't have denounced the Hyenas. He had a much more active role in actually shaping the action of the movie ending.....instead of just "Oh, that's all my Uncle's business, I just lived."

Besides. --> :edangry:

Total win.

I like the ending we have! This alternate ending was confusing.
