Scar's location on Pride Rock

I think that Scar was on another rock separate from the main Pride Rock formation. The formation, including Scar's rock, is located on top of a hill. That explains why Simba is able to see so much from Scar's location. At the same time, his rock is not under Pride Rock, so you won't see it at certain angles.
