[quote="Amanda"]Personally, I think it was because Mufasa was slipping off the ledge, and Scar wanted him to stay alive long enough to have his sweet revenge (aka telling him that he was behind everything and also having the satisfaction of seeing his brother's face when he told him). So he dug his claws into Mufasa's paws mainly to keep him from tumbling to his death, and maybe also so he could feel like
he was the one that killed the mighty Lion King and not some random wildebeest. I like your other points though, they do make sense.

I agree with you. Though I think that Scar wanted this to get personal. There alot of meanings in "Long live the King"
The meanings (from Mufasa's point of veiw)
1) Scar was planning this and was behind this the whole time.
2) Your about to die.
3) Simba's next and there's nothing you can do about it.
4) Scar's going to be King like he always wanted.
5) Scar was evil this whole time and has betrayed you, your Pride, and your Kingdom.
