Personally, I don't mind what happens at all with this adult board. The only thing I'm concerned about with the 'The staff pick members who they think are mature enough' method, is that if people don't get picked, they might feel left out and a bit, well, annoyed, to say the least. That's just me being picky, though.

If we had to pick members who (acted) maturely to be able to view the board, then it would be a pretty small number.
I can haz an idea though! what about if, we had sections aimed at different ages, with rules to match. Like 13-5, 15-18, and 18+...?

That's a nice idea IMHO, but how exactly will it work.. I mean, how will we know if something is appropriate for certain ages or not?

Create age specific forums and you win technically but you lose effectively, because you're not actually getting people who are right for the discussions into the forum (that goes both for people below and above 18). Do it by choice and drama will go off like a bombshell. :3

Well I mean the "adult area" would of course have rules still, but revised ones. For example, swearing would be okay there in my books, the rules exists so that young people would not have to see it / be encouraged for instance. Otherwise I do not really see the logic behind having an adult area.

So for example, the 15-18 area could be allowed to discuss things such as sexual orientation or whatever, whereas the 18+ group would have less restrictions in regards to the rules on top of that. Because honestly, maturity is a matter of perspective. I can have an in depth discussion about religion, or I can just as easily say "trolololol god doeznt xist." And that is why it should not be done by maturity, but by the fact of the matter, which is age.

Because she's saying what she thinks. I could care less about this whole debate, it's kind of useless. But I'd prefer MLK if we didn't have an adult board.

@ WildSimba: I'm here because I like TLK. Do you really think my parents would check every single topic? My dad doesn't even know how to close an internet window! My mom's the computer genius and she doesn't have the time! XD I just think it would be kinda obvious that there was an adult board. I have no problem with the discussion of mature TLK content. I just wanna be allowed to see it is all (because I'm weird XD). This is a Lion King Forum. I think it's just going a bit too far creating a whole other board to discuss things that I think people under 18 can handle. ^^

But not all people under 18 will be able to handle some things. That's why it'd be nicer to have an 18+ limit, with mods being able to allow people inside regardless of age depending on their maturity. Honestly it'd help to keep immature people who are over 18 out (and I know there are quite a few of those people here), and allowing people who can handle it who are under 18 in. I think this would be a better negotiation.
