"Adult" Board?

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

Well, enlighten us. What I understand the point to be is a forum where you can discuss things that you can't discuss on MLK right now because they're too mature/adult for some of the members.

Yeah, that's what I heard. ^^^

...Ed?

Sorry for bombarding you with constant questions, but has Moka responded to this yet? I know he approved of the idea, but did he say it would officially be created?

Didn't ignore, just forgot to reply. I'm on my phone quite a bit now :P
Yea, Lilymud discusses adult things on the main board, but most are 18+ now. Sometimes it escalates into drama, but usually just heated debate.

Azdgari: Exaxtly, but everyone seems to be making me sound like some sex-starved, perverted, creep, who wants to talk about nothing more than horrible gory things and sex. No. I'd just like somewhere I can talk about stuff that the younger or less mature members don't want to see or simply aren't interested in.

IvorySage: Nope, not yet. And it's ok, but as I keep saying, this is a WIP, it wasn't my idea to begin with, I haven't thought of everything, I don't know what the rules would be and untill I talk to Moka, I won't know.

^ I think he was talking about me.

I'm not ignoring this thread. With stuff this big I usually like to sit back and read people's opinions before sharing my own. ^__^

Here's what I think. I think there are better forums out there that were specifically made for discussing controversial stuff, and as Flip said the den allows discussing such things up to a certain point. What we don't have is a place to talk about the adult themes in TLK. But, since this is a kid-friendly forum, I'm a little hesitant to have that here, even if adult themes exist in TLK.

We could try a hidden forum, but we would need a really fair way of determining which members should be allowed in. The fairest way is 18+, but as Azdgari mentioned age and maturity have little correlation, of which I agree. But, any other way of determining that would be mighty unfair.

I think it won't be easy to make everybody happy. You'll always have to make a compromise.

I think that instead of an adult password proteced section, there should be another board for things like politics and religion. not things like sex, that can be discussed elsewhere. anyway, that board can be viewed by all. if u don't want to talk about politics, then don't simple as that. there are kids who want to talk about these things too, not only adults. just my opinion.

^ I agree with Arani for the most part. I seriously do not view it as fair to have a 18+ age limit or any age limit, really.

Personally, age limits make it seem like others r better or more mature to me. I have seen so many kids more mature than other adults.... not saying any adult here is immature, because your not immature. but in general.
