Suggestion for the Characters board

So, I'd suggest that the mods and Moka store into an archive or throw away all the current character topics and they themselves start them all over again with the suggested title tags and the links to the Wiki articles. I'm guessing this is something along the lines Moka was thinking and some of us were going for?

And also that it would probably be best to make clear in the first posts of each topic that it's meant to become an actual colourful discussion with reasoned opinions instead of fifty pages of mostly one-liners saying how you like/dislike the character or find it interesting or cool or whatever. With that perhaps a recommendation to read the character's Wiki article would be in place?

I'm fairly certain that we won't be throwing anything away unless I've misunderstood what Moka wanted =3 But I was thinking just a link to the Article is plenty enough.

Yeah that's why I mentioned the archive first but whatever.

And okay but I'm pretty sure that the quality of discussion won't change unless the topics are started over and the original post reminds that it's supposed to be a discussion and not a throw-your-one-liner-opinion topic.

Buuuut what do I know, it just might change after all.

Now I was just thinking, are those character topics supposed to go on forever? I mean, ie. in Simba's topic there's already 103 pages. Who's gonna go though that many pages? Not to mention if it some day turns out to be 1003? (Lol, would take a loong time, but anyway.)

As in, new suggestion: Lock a character topic at a certain page number and start a "[Character's name] 2" topic and perhaps link to the first one in the OP of the new one? It wouldn't make the pages any less numerous, but perhaps finding stuff would get a bit easier?

No. No one reads all the pages because half the posts are the same "He is an awesome character" and that just means you get a ton of threads for the same character too.

The characters board is fine. No one is going to die if the character threads stay open. No one is going to die if subcanon (or non-canon official characters, for you Kopa/Mheetu haters) character threads remain in the characters board. I propose that this thread has served its purpose and should be locked.

No one has claimed someone would die if nothing is changed about the board. That's the concept of suggestion. I'm not the only one in this topic who think it's not all fine.

As it has been stated by others and not just me, in this topic, that the Characters board might need some organizing, but it hasn't been originized yet. Thus, in my opinion, this topic hasn't yet served its purpose.

FlipMode, why can't the rules just start requiring reasond opinions, so people wouldn't post those pointless one-liners that have nothing to offer for a discussion and no one wants to read pages of?
