Ask The Character Threads - (suggestion)

Perhaps a bit harsh there Shade but I've got to say, I agree even if I would have put it in a softer way.

That's actually not that bad of an idea Moka. There's nothing bad in having more then one person asking in a thread. The only thing I would say that could be bad out of that is that the threads could get a little unorganized.

Inherently, people will forget to post their question after answering, but if that happens people can just post a question to keep the thread moving along.

WS, again, the rule says nothing about the topic OWNER posting in within 30 days, just the last post itself. I say for the third time, SM's topic was locked rightfully under our rule.

So are you implying that no rule can be changed... just because it's already been set before? The thread for universal rules was made back in 2008, now I'm suggesting that things do indeed change. Some forums could use individual sets, because as I have already given you evidence too, there are some boards that tend to cause a little more trouble, especially with stuff that hasn't been made clear.

In your examples, which are kind of old btw, it was the speed of the staff that was lacking, not the rules. That person's "where to download" thread should have been locked instantly. As for the Ask Me topic, that was a long time ago too. I don't think we'd have a problem if people started making "ask me" threads in the den.

What are we even talking about? I'd say at this point we're 'too far to care' as the Old 97's would say.

Essentially, hasn't it been decided that things are fine, the topics will stay the way they are (i still feel like it's monopolized but it's not my choice and this fighting is needless drama), and that's that? We've proved Panda's topic is fine, and now we're just arguing about obscure hypothetical situations... Why don't we just cross those bridges as we come to them? If we ever do, which is unlikely?

There is no reason to be rude about it. Have I said anything that directly is mean to anyone? So don't do it to others, this thread has been pretty calm, if you have an opinion state it nicer.

To Moka - The speed of a staff can be a problem. But many of staff members posted in the download thread before locked. A lot actually let it float, saying there's nothing wrong. That is not a problem with speed. That is a problem with not being clear on the rule.

Even if it is an old thread, it is still an example. I can find at least 8-9 threads of the same sort.

As I said. You shouldn't always just think of "now". A problem is that the forum doesn't act before the situation arises. Trust me, with the complaint earlier, and the agreement postings earlier, it's should just be given up that easy. If you can't already tell, I'm giving my all to try and persuade people over.

That's the point i've been trying to make as well. These issues are so obscure that the staff can easily handle them individually, using actions appropriate for that occurance instead of pre-determined set rules.

Guys, I don't think this topic has gone too far. When members have issues with how things are running they should be able to address them in this forum. That's what its for.

Besides, if we stopped it at page two, I wouldn't have thought of this:

WS: Okay yes I agree it was not only speed but the staff were a bit confused on the legalities of downloading movie clips which can be confusing. We're not lawyers, after all.

EDIT: If we want to implement the ask topics ^ this way ^, I can start a vote.

Whoever answers the question must then ask another question. Then, another poster can answer that question and ask another question. This way, everyone has the chance to ask and answer questions.

If we do anything to change things, that should be it.

As I said earlier, that is definately a good idea Moka.

And I think it should be made a point then, that downloading movies is definately something not be posted, even in The Den. You don't have to be a lawyer to realize that it's illegal.

And this is definately not being taken to far. This isn't even an arquement really, it's just a discussion on what everyone feels is right and wrong. Things like the stuff you guys are posting definately shows that you guys don't know the difference between needed, and uneeded drama. Actually, the drama would be the people complaining about why it's still being discussed. Believe it or not, I'm not doing this for myself, I'm suggesting for the well-being of EVERYONE.

Besides, no rules are being broken for suggesting in a Suggestions forum. LOL
