"Adult" Board?

I'm totally on the same page as Azdgari here, my only thing is that

A: A pole be made.

B: Set a limit on how deeply you can discuss controversial topics.

But you are the one who created this, they are just suggestions. I'm curious to see if this gets created and will be standing by!

Well on Lilymud they have a board where you can discuss anything you want. Annie if you recall the Emotional and Creativity board on there? I've seen some racy topics brought up there and nothing gets blown out of control.

Not sure who you were replying to with that post, but I am going to give my response to it.

First of all, no one is saying that kind of stuff should be fine to discuss in the public boards, that is why the rules say not to.

Second, those examples you gave are just a bit weird. Discuss rape of TLK characters? Oh yeah that sounds good to me! (By that I mean not at all) I mean if it comes up in a thread then I can kind of understand, but even then just avoid talking about it, it is not an "adult" thing to discuss, it is just deranged. Like I said earlier; adult discussion does necessitate being downright disgusting, it means being able to discuss things in a mature way and debating topics where appropriate.

Granted those kinds of things are not the sort of things I would want my kids to be able to see, but it is also not the kind of thing I would even want to be part of a community that do like to discuss it.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic/disturbing by the fact that people are using this topic to discuss things for the section which is not existing yet?

I think we should get back to the topic of whether or not to have this section, not what we will discuss in it. As I already mentioned (and it got skipped), we can have a poll, see how many members agree to such a restricted section. And use the results along with refrained debate on whether or not to create the section.

By "Adult" I mean 18+ things, things you'd either see after 9pm or things that younger kids might not 'get' or even want to 'get'

As for the ideas for topics I mentioned - Nala was almost, if not actually raped and it didn't seem to have that much effect on her and I think it might be interesting to discuss why this is (Don't start it now, like DGFone said, that's not what this thread is for)

It is an adult thing to discuss, if done properly. And it's certianly not deranged. The real world is not full of cute little fuzzy animals and rainbows and I think it would be interesting (Notice I never say 'a whole heap of giggles') to bring out a little of the real world from TLK and other topics.
We could also discuss fun topics, like going out clubbing and the best places to go, or even useful stuff.

I just think you're taking this whole idea the wrong way, it seems you don't completely understand what I'm trying to get at here.

I mean, this is just two cents on that discussion you just brought up Annie, but honestly, I don't think there's meant to be all that much adult material in TLK. That's why it's a kid's movie and a family musical. Do you actually believe for a second that a character would get raped in either of those? No, it's completely hypothetical and, in my opinion, yes, it's a little perverted to interpret the scene that way. It's taking the scene entirely out of context, and that context is that it's meant to be G-rated.

I'm not saying since I'm not interested we shouldn't make the forum. Do I have any interest in discussing clubbing or adult habits or whatever on the internet? No, I don't. But it doesn't mean other people don't, so I don't see why they can't have the opportunity to discuss. Unless it's putting members TheLionQueen in danger or making people uncomfortable. Then I do have a problem with it.

Well, you have me there in that I was just about to say 'let's save this for another topic' and then realized it probably wouldn't be okay in the board. So, I can see a bit of a niche forming for the adult. I still really have no interest in discussing that, but like I said, if there are people that want to discuss these things, and it doesn't endanger anyone, there's no reason I can think of not to make the forum.
