RolePlay Forum suggestions

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

I think ranking like that will do more harm than good. Maybe instead of having beginner, intermediate, and advanced boards, we just have three RP boards that didn't rank anyone. As soon as the first board is filled up, new RP's would go to the second forum and so on. That way no one would feel like they're being ranked. Just a suggestion. :)

We considered ranking the people before we thought of ranking the RPs when we were implementing the tiered system. The reason we didn't try ranking the members is because, like everyone ie saying, members of any skill level may feel left out one way or another - and because maintaining every member's rank would be a nightmare for moderators.

I can see now how a tiered system of any kind would do more harm than good. Active role players will start to know the other role players and start to know who has more skill. They know that just by being involved. I can attest to this and I'm sure lots of other role players can as well.

So, we bring activity up by making it fairer and more enjoyable for everyone and easier and more welcoming to newcomers. Our brains and our friends will take care of the rest.

Ranking people is a baaaad way to go. That will cause unwanted drama almost immediately because people who might consider themselves of a higher caliber might get put at a lower caliber at the staff's or whoever's choosing's discretion. Not good.

Plus I don't really see how this would actually make the RP section more active or anything like that, which I think should be a key aspect in improving our RP section.

If you're going to rank anything, rank the RPs themselves, not the RPers. (Like we've been doing.) It's always been at the RP leader's discretion whether or not he/she lets someone in, and it's never really been an issue before, so there's no reason to fix something that isn't broken.

Personally I think taking out ranks all together would be better. Less chance for drama. But just ranking the RP and not the prson is just as good!

Isn't that how it's run already? =P

I don't think it's anything to do with how its run; I just don't think there are many people interested or committed to RPing. :3

well, that was just a suggestion, if you guys don't agree with it then we should think of something else.

and i like all of the ideas that have been suggested so far,

practice forum for rping

open and closed forums

those 2 really stood out, they could improve the quality of the player him/her self and not just the forum.

personally I've been looking forward to a revamp of the rp section so i can't wait to hear what other people come up with.

That is kind of our general reasoning for doing this, to not only hopefully gain some interest, but also so that when things pick up again in the RP area, which they inevitably will eventually, then it will be a better experience.

just thought of something, there should be a forum for rp plots that the creator did not want to start kind of like an adoption center for plots, the only problem that i could see (thanks to flip) is people would have to give in some ideas to it.

the advantages are,
1. Opens flow of ideas
2. gets more open rp's going
3. gives a place for rp's without initial interest

disadvantages
1. people more often then not make fan fics out of good idea's or make the rp themselves
2. would need contributing role players to make it work

^ I certainly don't think that would do any harm lol. Even if rarely used, it sounds better to have than not. I mean I would submit ideas into it f'sure... Yeah I like that idea.

Separate planning sections for Open and Private RPs? A big YES to that! xD I think that would help those of us who aren't much for posting ideas, but would like to join an RP immensely C:
