Chatroom Idea

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

THEN LETS TAKE OFF THE CHAT FROM THE INDEX PAGE K?!

Butthurt from just having you NAME on it I assume? Not to be mean or anything though, I just hate when some complain about small things.

I feel like now the chat on the index page is bringing up small hurt. Just because NAMES of HIDDEN members show up. <.<

Actually, I don't see why people want to hide their online status. Is the CIA searching you or something?

^ This.

Well, I hide it too, but I hide it because I barely am active here and just stalk threads. I don't care if my name shows up in the chat xD

That's none of your business... I mean, if there's a stupid button to hide yourself, shouldn't it hide you?, what's the point if your name will appear int eh chatroom?

What's the point at all? oh, right. There is no point. Hiding yourself for a reason nobody can know is a little bit too much of an overreaction for a lionking forum.

*chuckles*

While I am many things, I assure you that "butthurt" is not one of them, but perhaps my verbose manner of speaking has somehow led to that impression? More words does not automatically equal more passion... it just means I love to hear myself type.

Please understand, I am not even remotely hurt, nor am I trying to cause drama... nor did I somehow mean to imply that the chatroom should be removed or should not exist. I apologize if I gave that impression. I have no desire, whatsoever, of denying people the chatroom and whatever fun they may have with it.

True, perhaps having my name in the chatroom when I'd rather it not be there can be interpreted as a "small" thing to others and I accept that folks may not share my point of view on the subject - however, I do not see the harm in asking if it's possible to keep my name (or anyone else who so desires to remain hidden) out of the chatroom. After all, just because you cannot see why something does or does not bother someone else does not necessarily mean their opinions are any less valid than your own, no?
;)

After all, I do not use the chatroom. I have n ever planned to use the chatroom. I do not understand why logging into it is mandatory and I do not think that is too much to ask that I be given the option of whether I'm logged into it or not... but of course the only person who can really answer that question is the person who's configuring the forum and its features. I am quite eager to hear what they have to say about it.

At any rate, I stand by my opinion that it's silly and misleading to have an "Hide my online status this session" checkbox when you login when this option is obviously useless.

The chatroom is integrated in phpbb. This means that logging into the forum = logging into the chatroom. Forum = chatroom. I doubt this is even possibe because I remember Moka once said this was the only well-functioning phpbb integrated chatroom.

He will know if it can be done. What I just don't get is why people log in hidden. I mean, what is everyone afraid of?

Ah yes. I have frequented many phpbb boards in the past and the hidden/not-hidden thing has never been an issue, but I suppose it depends on what kind of programming is being used here. Hopefully Moka will be able to weigh in on the topic... it would help bring that particular issue to a resolution faster, I think... and then we can all stop whining and move onto the next bone of contention.

Hey, whining is serious business here on mlk ;)
But yeah, if there is someone who could fix it, it would be him.
