But when you click on quote for a regular post, it takes you to the post editor. Because the chatbox is not run by posts, you can't use the quote system that I used just now. So while I hope that implementing a quote system can be as easy as you say it is, there is still a chance that something might not work and it will end up being much harder than anyone expected.

Now that I think about it, everyone quoting a load of posts in the chatroom will be a bit of a pain as the quote boxes are pretty big. Would prefer a simple thing you could click to insert a username...

On the opposite side of the coin, if we're not chatting, then why do our names have to be visible?
Why do we have to be automatically logged into the chat at all, particularly if we're not planning on using it?
I, for one, would greatly appreciate not having my name in the chatroom - no, I am not hiding from anyone in particular, but I don't really feel like it should be any other forum member's business to know when I am lurking (unless they're staff). I also feel it's bit silly that we are offered the opportunity to be "hidden" when we log in, yet the chat undoes that. After all, why offer the ability to be "hidden" if it's not enforceable?
Quite frankly, not being able to choose whether I'm "hidden" or not kinda makes me uncomfortable - hence why I haven't logged in or participated on the forum since I found out how the chat operates.
And now that I've tossed my two cents, I once again bid thee adieu.
