Still Unresolved

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

Amanda, you are allowed to discuss a mod's decisions but you can do it via PMs,it has always been this way and it's like this on EVERY other forum. This rule was there always and we never had a problem. For instance, why would someone fairly new who is here to discuss about TLK want to hear why some XY or XX got a warning for. No,that's not good for the forum and is only bound to provoke drama. If you have a problem PM the staff member, what's so hard about that?
Excuse me but you're just being rediculous with the ''mods would delete PMs'' thing. Do you really think someone of us would do that? And btw,the same could be done with a new topic, with new posts in the chatroom, with everything. But that is why staff members aren't picked that easily.
So let me get this straight, you want problems to be resolved with pressuring the staff members? I really hope you're not being serious about that matter because it's not how problems get resolved on a long term matter.

I agree with what AC said, every single word.

This whole issue arose over me handing out a second warning to a certain member, which was not because the member posted in the chatroom but because the member has show a great deal of disrespect towards me on a PM sent after I gave the member the first warning.

Okay guys,I've said all that I have to say,I'm dissapointed by a lot of people here and I hope you can see that is all not leading anywhere. You're always complaining, always got something to mock on even when there is nothing wrong and that's just not fair from you. I don't know about the other staff members but I have always been there for every member and always as fair as I can be,but well, guess not even that can be respected around here anymore. Thank you.

Dude as a Moderator, I do not think you should be calling members out like that. Also IF you read the rest of what she said she also said that she was not suggesting any of the current staff or future staff will do that, but that it is a possibility (and she is right in that context). You are over reacting, Moka has said it will be looked into by us at some point and most of your points have been covered in the previous thread. For one trying to stop drama, calling people out individually is only going to provoke it.

Okay first of all; members have a right to complain about something they do not like, that is how the staff can find out what is wrong with the site and help to improve things a bit. Yes there has been more of it lately, but it is okay and people have right to say what they want to say.
Respected? Oh please! You are just as respected as any other person on MLK, and no one has said otherwise, you just said that yourself and made it up on spot.

Okay guys I think it is just about time to lock this, Moka has said (again) that it will be looked into and so it will be. Therefore I assume the issue is resolved after all but I think it should stay open untill the matter has been looked into properly.

We can get rid of the rule if it really is THAT MUCH of an issue, but even IF we do; you should still take matters up with mods via PM if you have an issue (like AC said it is better communication)... I think that sounds pretty fair, yes? And remember that the staff are just as much a part of the community as members are, only that we voluntarily help to keep things running smoothly... I say this because at the moment it seems to be that the members are almost at war with the staff, it should not be like that and a little bit of communication can go a long way to fix that, not just slamming down the opinions of others like they are somehow not important.

All I did was respond to the first warning with an image of Oprah pointing and going 'U Mad?' Really now, it was just a joke. I don't think that defines it as 'a great deal of disrespect'. Maybe if I had responded with, 'omg Ivan you suck, why did you give me a warning? omggg you're such a horrible person I hope you rot in hell' now that might have been disrespect.

People need to calm down and laugh once in a while. My goodness.

Edit: If anyone was curious, this was the gif I sent in the PM:

It's not even cursing or anything. :l

How is it the staff are still being depicted as some evil, immoral team who are going to delete your PMs and ban you for fun when the staff went well out of their way to make sure members picked their latest mod? Like really. It's not a secret police, it's a bunch of people, some of whom you've now chosen, who do their best to make the board run smoother. xP

I agree with you there Amanda, to some extent; However, I'm willing to bet if, after he warned you again, you responded with a polite PM explaining it was a joke and apologizing, he would would absolutely have removed the second warning and the whole situation would be resolved (and imagine this!) without having to get everyone else involved. ^^

Okay, its probably not my place to say this and I don't want to start an agrument, but I think Ivan is right. SD, perhaps you should have explained that it was a joke. Anyway, I think Ivan has the right to feel disrespected by this because SD never explained it was a joke until now (to my knowledge).

And you shouldn't, atleast I wouldn't, go discussing warnings with anyone other then Mods. Especially your opinions on your warnings, like "Oh, I didn't do anything" or "That was such a stupid warning", because the Mod could see that as disrespectful.
So, I think that people should stop complaining and go with what the Mods say. :cool2:

The issue of the matter aside... if I can offer a minor criticism, I think one thing that continuously affects these matters is the way the collective staff sometimes relates said matters themselves.

What I'm saying is... a little more level-headedness can go a long way, and I'm not sure I've seen that from some of the staff over the past few months. I'm not saying each and every one of you is guilty of this, because you're not. But it's definitely something I've seen pop up on more than a few occasions, this thread being one of them.

Sometimes, if you want the members to respect you, you have to take a deep breath before you type and be as civil and level-headed as possible. Then, the only thing standing in your way of peace is the actual subject at hand.

See the thing is, I didn't even say it was a stupid warning nor did I think I didn't do anything wrong. I deserved the first warning I got, and I knew I was going to get it, because I posted a picture in the chatroom. The chatroom pic I posted on purpose and I take full blame for it and I deserved the warning because I knew I was going to get it. All I said in the chatroom after I got the warning though was more along the lines of 'lol I got a warning'.

Then I responded to the first warning PM with the Oprah image as a joke, not expecting to get a second warning. I was under the impression that PMs were like a 'no man zone', a neutral territory where you couldn't get in trouble because it's not like the whole board can see what's going on. I thought maybe he would KNOW that I was joking around with the Oprah because honestly when am I ever serious on this board? I joke around, it's what I do, I'm not called SILLYdog for nothing. Obviously that wasn't the case because I got a second warning and a 24 hour ban. Which I then proceeded to tell a few of my MLK friends on MSN about, just in case they happened to sign in and not see me around. Although MSN should be considered neutral territory as well but apparently that's not always the case.
