Les Miserables

The 2012 musical drama tells the story of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who becomes mayor of a town in France. After he's exposed, Valjean agrees to take care of Cosette, the illegitimate daughter of Fantine, but as a fugitive must also avoid being captured again by police inspector Javert. The plot spans 17 years and is set against a backdrop of political turmoil, which in the film culminates in the June Rebellion of France.

Has anyone seen the musical? I recently watched it for the first time last night I have to say...AMAZING MOVIE. Absolutely beautiful and it gets down everything top noch. The acting is fantastic, the songs are beautiful, the characters have three Dimentionality and lets us feel and care for them, and the story is so emotional and interesting. Everything executes well and honestly, it's definately one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life so far. All of the actors and actress have so much talent in both singing and acting. Before seeing Les Mis, I already loved Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman, and they didn't dissapointment me here. Anne Hathaway singing "I Dreamed a Dream" blew me away because she had so much emotion put into herself and the song is also great, even though I have heard it from Susan Boyle before Anne. Although she isn't in the movie as much as others are, she's still one of my favorites in it. Hugh Jackman's performance was so captivating and sings absolutely beautiful. He has such a lovely voice and I adore the relationship between Valjean and Cosette. Overall, great role he has.

I also love the relationship between Eponine and Marius. Even though they don't get completely together since she dies in the revolution, I loved how she cared for him and expressed her feelings for him. Eponine is one of my favorite characters. I also like Marius x Cosette.

Overall, absolutely beautiful film. If you like musicals and drama mixed together with a good story, definately watch it. I give a 10/10.

I want to see it so bad! Gah. It only came out here yesterday though lol. Planning to see it asap, the trailers blew me away and I've only heard good things about it.

Ahhh! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOVE LES MISERABLES!!!
I have always loved musicals and this was one I always wanted to see. When I found out it was being turned into a movie I got so excited!

Overall this movie is fantastic in every way! One of the most amazing movies I have ever seen and definitely one of my top favourites. There's so much to it that I believe I could watch this several times and always catch a new small thing that I didn't notice before. Absolutely amazing movie! I love it!

I also love the characters! My favourites would have to be Jean Valjean, Fantine, Cosette, Marius, Eponine, Javert & Gavroche.

I love how deep the characters are and how most of them still seem unexplored in many ways. In fact, the only character we know pretty much everything about is Jean Valjean, and that's because he's the main character.

Also the songs are amazing! Anne Hathaway in I Dreamed A Dream was fantastic! It was so raw and emotional! I loved it even though it had me sobbing </3
Also her death scene brought me to tears. It was so perfect! AHH! Everything was so perfect! I loved it all!

Those are my favorites too! They're all great! I love how much Valjean and Fantine care for Cosette. Eponine and Marius have so much potential in each other but also independently.

I was watching one of the interviews with Samantha Barks (Eponine) and it was said that Taylor Swift was originally gonna be playing Eponine. As much as I like Taylor Swift, I laughed my butt off because I DO NOT see her as Eponine. She cannot pull it off. I'm so glad Samantha got it. She deserved it and had a fantastic performance.

It may not be the 2012 version, but I have the 1935 film adaptation with Fredric March and Charles Laughton (two classic actors) recorded onto my DVR.

Personally, I have heard the acclaim for Anne Hathaway, and her show-stopping rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream". I congratulate her on her win at the Golden Globes, and hope the same at the Academy Awards.

I used to have a VHS of the stage musical, so I'm hoping to see this at some point.

Useless fact: The little girl who plays the young Cosette is from my town.

I am totally obsessed with Les Mis, and I am currently reading the book (about half way now) and I loved the small references to the book throughout, it was a treat for those who knows the original story.

I have seen a couple versions of the musical (only the Norwegian version live, though) and I have to say that Hugh Jackman made a very impressive and sympathetic Valjean. I think he might be my new favourite, actually. My favourite relationship in the story is the one between Cosette and Valjean, and I loved how it was portrayed by Jackman and Seyfried, as well as the little girl who played young Cosette.

Seeing Colm Wilkinson (Valjean in the original, first version) as the Bishop of Digne was just wonderful.

Anne Hathaway is simply amazing, she blew me away. I had no idea she could sing, and although "I dreamed a dream" didn`t make me cry, her powerful and emotional performance really got to me. I broke during "Fantines Arrest," though, and during "Come to me" I had tears streaming down my face, I kid you not.

I have seen way better Javerts than Russel Crowe, though he did a good job, I`m not saying he was bad, he sings well, but I felt his performance fell rather flat next to the other actors/characters which were all so powerful and emotional in their singing and acting. It didn`t take anything away from the overal excperience, though.

Eddie Redmayne as Marius was great, and it was interesting to hear such a light-voiced tenor. He made me cry (once again) during "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," without a doubt the most beautiful and heartbreaking performance of that song I have ever seen/heard.

Amanda Seyfried as Cosette was good, I think, though I felt her voice lacked real emotion and strength, nonetheless, she is a good actor.

Samantha Barks as Eponine - I was so glad when I learned she was going to play Eponine in the movie, as I had seen her in the 25th anniversary concert (on DVD) and I immensely enjoyed her portrayal of this character. She brings a vulnerability and raw emotion to the performance which is impressive, and her voice is very strong, though it was a bit downplayed in the movie, not that that harms her performance in any way, she was amazing. Her and Eddie together made a fine duet, and for the first time ever, "A Little Fall of Rain" brought me to tears. (I cried A LOT during this movie!)

The Thenardieres were awesome in this version, although they are despicable characters, I loved seeing the talented actors portraying them, they did great!

I also liked Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, though Ramin Karminloo remains my favourite still of the ones I have seen.

I also cried at the end. Overall, this was an amazing excperience, a wonderful movie and a very impressive performance. The fact that the singing was live was a genius touch, it made the whole thing all the more real and sincere.
I just watched it yesterday (it premiered here on Friday) and I can tell you I will go and watch it again several times! VIVE LES MIS!

Ive seen it and I have to say that I was blown away. The awesome part is that some of the filming was done here in my town (I'm serious!! See HERE, I live in Northamptonshire!) because they wanted to use the older looking streets and buildings, particularly the old country house not far from here.

I was blown away by Anne Hathaway's performance especially in "I dreamed a dream" she just moved me to tears <3
