Proof That The Sky Is Not The Limit

Yet another historic event we can tell the next generation that we were there to witness. Yes it has little scientific use (NASA claim it may help develop safety / parachute options for future missions) but the fact remains, this is an incredible feat for a human to achieve.

I can not really put it into words so, if you want to read more about it -

Otherwise fill this thread up with awe.

This was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed in my life.
Our parents told us about when they saw the first person on the moon, and we will tell our kids how felix jumped from 39km.
It was AMAZING.

Saw it live this morning. so cool.
There are those who complain about the wind, there are those who hope the wind will change, --though the wise-- the wise adjust their sails.

Yeah, he broke the speed of sound up high where Mach 1 is quite slow, but on the other hand, if you look at super-sonic aircraft, that sharp stick in front of of them is not for show. Now that that's out of the way...

What was done is absolutely incredible. But what I think made it even better was that it wasn't done by a government at war *cough*moon landings *cough*, but by a private company, pushing the limit of what it can do because it can...

... and perhaps for some marketing as well.

But look at it this way: The first person who will step on Mars will have a Red Bull logo on their helmet.

As long as someone manages to get somebody to Mars during my lifetime, I'll be contented. Stephen Hawkings said that the only way the Human race is going to survive is by expanding into the stars and colonising other planets. If I recall correctly from the speech he made, he said that we could have a base on the moon within 50 years and a base on mars in 100 years...

I just hope that this comes true, and I hope I can live to see the day that we have a permanent moonbase. If it's only private companies who are willing to do this, then that's fine by me.
