For or against Gay Marriage

Postby WildSimba » September 9th, 2012, 8:23 pm

This recent video really made me lose brain cells, but also made me interested what you guys think about the subject.

So what's your opinion? Are you for or against Gays getting married? I would definitely say I'm for it. Letting other people not allowed their rights due to your conservative religious beliefs is wrong in my opinion. Marriage shouldn't be defined as just a man and a woman who want to get married, but two people who are IN LOVE who want to get married. And let's be honest here, how big is the divorce rate across straight married couples, and how often do gay people break up or just walk away from their lovers?

I know this is a controversial issue, but please try and be respectful of others with your opinion. Thanks. :3

I'm all for Gay marriage. people can make their own choices, and if their choice is to marry the same sex, then that's their choice. it's not something the government or anybody can/should decide for them. It's denying rights, in my opinion. =/

Stupid video -,- Gosh. Well, I disagree with it completely. I'm all for gay rights and gay marriage. I don't see anything wrong with it. All I have to say about this matter you've already said WS. The outcomes of allowing gay marriage, to me, are all positive. I don't see any negatives to letting same sex people marry.

It is a shame the United States calles itself a developed country and at the same time still not everyone is equal.

To each and every one of you who is against gay marriage please answer the following questions:
What gives you the right to deny gay people marriage? (other than forcing religious beliefs on people that don't believe)
Why do you think gay people are somehow less than you are?
What makes you think homosexuality is wrong? (besides religion, that's not an argument)

Nobody should have the right to tell other people what they can't do! If you don't want a gay marriage... Don't get one! If you are against gay marriage you are discriminating. Do heterosexual people somehow deserve more rights than homosexual people? Or Bisexual people? That is far from equal rights. A civilized society without equality simply does not exist.

Why does it even bother people if gay people could marry? Can't you sleep over the fact that the homosexual people across the street are now husband and husband? Because if that's the case you might want to check for some mental disorder. Have gay people ever done something wron to you? Does gay marriage have negative effects on you? NO IT DOES NOT!

''I believe in the Bible and therefore you can't marry'' is a stupid and indeed discriminating statement. It is very, very sad that some people still believe that is right.

And the worst part, zealous people like that indoctrinate their children. They teach their children to hate on their fellow citizens. Is that a way to build a strong society? NO. This only builds a society based on hate and fear. Those children don't even know what they are talking about.

Homosexuality is something that just happens in nature, it occurs in almost every species, including us, humans! There is no such thing as traditional marriage. Given the prevalence of modern and ancient examples of family arrangements based on polygamy, communal child-rearing, the use of concubines and mistresses and the commonality of prostitution, heterosexual monogamy can be considered "unnatural” in evolutionary terms.

I sincerely hope, that if there is a God, he hates intolerant zealots!

What gives anyone the privalige to take away anyone else's rights? So what, they love eachother
and will most likely stay together. Now you, average woman/man, are getting divorced. They won't! Oh and getting married after 2 hours of knowing eachother in Vegas is permitted too? That's not fair. to anyone. Also, getting divorced 8 times and still allowing remarriage? How about we take that away too! It's not fair, that two people who are in love don't get to be married, but you two rednecks can!

And don't try to shove your religious beliefs down someone's throat. They believe in what they want to, not what you want them too! The bible said no gay marriage? Cool. Maybe they don't believe in that. I'm not trying to go religious here, but just don't say they cant get married because of a book.

Gau marriage should be aloud, and have as much respect as any other marriage should.

Im sorry, but that advert made me lol so much xD The acting was dreadful and the message was just... WAT? O_o

Okay, before I start wording my opinion, I do not hate gay people. Infact, one of my best friends is gay and another bisexual. For me it's a case of hate the sin, not the sinner. I do have a little Christian belief in me, but I wouldn't class myself as a proper Christian and I live with my boyfriend and that is a strict no no in the biblical terms.

Right.. I am going off topic

Ok.. I hate it when homosexuality is blown in my face and people have a go at me for being straight and not gay so i've not had the best experiences with gay people. Two girls I used to know used to take the p!ss out of my because I had a boyfriend.. Er what? Your going against nature and can't even have sex properly and your taking the mick out of me? WTH?!

I think gay people sometimes like to make a big deal about them getting married, which again annoys me so much it puts me more against gay marriage. If they want to get married fine. But they can't expect everyone else to agree with them. Then they go through all this campaign bull and want attention etc and it gets ridiculous x_X 'Look how random I am! Im gay! Ah, people don't like it! Im going to campaign and get on the telly and make a huge deal out of it!' I am not saying all homosexuals are like that. It's like football... I don't like it, my dad does yet he doesn't force me to like it. It's his opinion. I think because of my bad experience with people I feel like most gay people will hate me if I am not gay and don't like the sin :\

My friend for example is in a relationship and doesn't boast and go over the top with it all. He respects some people don't agree with it and I WISH more people were like him. He never kisses his boyfriend in public or makes sexual remarks because it makes people uncomfortable. It does me when two lesbians start snogging infront of me on a train or whatever. It's not natural to me. But if they want to do it in private, then that is fine. Again, the two lesbians I knew who were taking the mick out of me for being straight couldn't leave each other alone infront of our friends and would spam all their doings on facebook (Needless to say, they are both blocked now) It made my view on the whole thing even more negative.

So... my opinion on gay marriage. No, I don't think it's right, but if people want to do it then they should go for it, BUT not EXPECT others to just agree with it and get over themselves. So I guess im, sitting on a bit of a fence here xD Yes if your not blowing it in my face, no if you are.

I think we can safely say that far from all homosexuals are like that. It's only the ones you see on tv, which is like 0.001%

Debates do not work when there is only one answer - of course I am okay with gay marriage. And Shadowfax, most people (not saying you, but most people who share your opinion) are massive hypocrites who don't shut up about their other half and then whine when gay people do it, just saying. Again, not saying that is you but more often than not it is and that is why having that kind of mentality is still no good IMO.

Most people do not even know I am bi, that's how very little I mention it. I am in a solid relationship already so why does it really matter to anyone else right now?
On that note, I have a somewhat humours story to share -
When I was in one of later high school years we had to play this retarded game in order to get to know each other better, we had all sat around in a circle and we had to choose things such as "Swap places if you are X" and then all people it applied to would get up and switch places.
One of the last few questions made (because sex is funny in high school) was "Swap places if you are bisexual" I got up out of my seat, and ONLY after I stood there for about 5 seconds, debating on whether to sit back down or not did a girl across the room finally get the guts to stand up and swap places with me.
Well it was funny to me anyway lol, but the point is - if you are then the worst you can do is feel insecure about it IMO.

And unfortunately a lot of the homosexuals I have encountered.

And Flip, I know straight people can be just as bad with not shutting up about their other half and I am not at all like that. =3
