What's next? California? Washington? Oregon? Alaska maybe? I wonder. 0_o Thoughts?

(I live in California... literally right on top of the San Andreas Fault... *Runs to find and charge camera. xD*)

And this is exactly why I'm not going back to California. Not ever again.

I'm too lazy to post the sources supporting this (maybe tomorrow), but I predict that within the next 50 years, California is going to violently break off from the rest of North America.

As I live in California (also near the fault) I would rather have the energy dissipate in a series of small, manageable earthquakes over one big one.

^ Unfortunately, they're predicting that California will have a big earthquake, maybe an 8.0, sometime soon. I don't remember how long but there's been a certain amount of time between all of the major Cali. Earthquakes so the next one in that set timeline should be soon. They don't know if it will actually happen but there's a very good chance it will.

Don't quote me on any of that, just heard that in a documentary a few days ago. xD

there's a like 40 year margin in between though so who knows. Might not happen for a long time but with all of the Earthquakes around the Ring of Fire lately I'm betting it'll happen sooner than we think. :/

The big 8.0 is already 10 years late. There was a study done, I believe in the late 90s, that came with this result: Within 10 years (of the study's publication date), three things will happen: A major Terrorist strike on New York, a large hurricane hitting New Orleans, and a major (8.0+) earthquake on San Francisco.

The scary thought it that two of those things have already happened. And the question is really indeed when and not if. But I hope that SF learned after 2 major earthquakes (1989 and especially 1904) and is ready for another big one.

Late 90's? Then they're already wrong about the earthquake. It's ten years from 2002... I can't believe you actually trust those dooms day things. Anything they said was a blind guess based off of things that had already happened. Guesses that got lucky.

Well, it's not really a "dooms day" prophecy as you put it.

And whenever the subject of earthquakes comes up, basically everyone in the areas say "Eh, so a big one is ten years late. We can wait some more."

Keep in mind you guys, I was just writing what I heard in a documentary a few days back during science class (Yes, we're studying earthquakes at the moment. Ironic.) :P I'll gladly wait a while longer for the big one. xD (I'm just happy I don't live in SF...)
