Beauty and the Beast 3D

Postby Noah » January 11th, 2012, 5:23 am

Given the success of The Lion King in 3D, Disney is planning on releasing several more of its animated masterpieces back in theaters. In just two more days, on January the 13th, Beauty and the Beast is coming back to theaters. I was wondering whether any of you planned on attending it?

For me, I will be seeing it, but I'm gonna skip out on the 3D. Having seen The Lion King in both 2D and 3D in theaters, I'm gonna save my money and just see the 2D version. I know that I'm probably gonna get told not to do this by some of you, it's happened before on this site. ;)

I think Disney is kind of milking the whole 3D thing, as they do a lot of their productions. But that's just me

As for this particular one, I really never cared for it. :ehh:

I only first saw Beauty and the Beast a year or two ago, and ever since I first saw it I have had a really great appreciation for it. It's a really beautiful movie and I'm honestly looking forward to seeing it. I was going to wait till I got back to Aus at the end of the month, but as it turns out it was already released in Aus and New Zealand back in August last year. So I've got to see it in the States before I go.

I'll definitely be seeing this whenever it comes here. I know it's going to but probably in a few months.

I would love to see the movie in 3D! But, I won't be able to see it for the same reason I wasn't able to see The Lion King 3D in theaters. Bad economy = less part-time jobs for teenagers like me = no money to buy a car = no movie going for me. :( Not to mention I don't have enough money to buy 3D glasses, and I heard they were expensive.

Oh well, but I have the Beauty and the Beast 3-Disc Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, and I'm still enjoying it!

I said that about TLK 3D and got told to STFU, but you are right. Anything post Tron - Evolution by Disney that ran in 3D has been a blatant attempt at cashing in on the 3D trend.... Though to be fair every company is guilty of doing that, it seems to have died down a bit now though.

Its blatantly obvious that the only reason people are interested in the 3D re-releases is to see the film in cinemas, not to see it in 3D... 3D is a huge flop! 3D effects work better at home on a 3DTV than they do in cinemas, and even then it should be left for gaming if you ask me. Gaming in 3D is unreal, because they are naturally built with the perception of depth in mind, 3D films at least most of them, are just underwhelming in comparison.

I personally don't think 3D films will last much longer. Hopefully.

I'd love to, but the theater here doesn't do 3D, so they probably won"t show it.
I am also a big fan of: Phantom of the Opera, High School Musical, Harry Potter, Disney in general, Days of Our Lives, musicals in general, Dr. Seuss in general and the Grinch.

They're bringing out the little Mermaid and Monster's Inc in 3D too. Remaking the movies in 3D isn't really that special because the movies are originally 2D and not much pops out. I doubt I'll go see it because I really don't care for the movie myself.

I don't care if it's cashing in on a trend if it means getting TLK back in theaters every couple decades when there's a new gimick out there, but like FlipMode said, it's because the movie was in theaters again, not because of the 3D.

I probably won't see Beauty & the Beast 3D because the movie doesn't hold any special meaning to me.

Now, when Titanic comes out in 3D in April on the 100th anniversary of the wreck, THAT I am lining up for, because that's just so marvelously tacky I can't NOT.

But beyond that one other release, I'm just not interested in the 3D gimick enough to brave a theater. Its annoying having glasses over glasses.

I probably won't see it as Beauty and the Beast is not a favorite of mine (it's good but I think it's overpraised).

I'll probably see Mermaid in theaters though when it comes by in 3D.
