Well I'd just like to say that just because someone clicked "no" doesn't necessarily mean they are against the idea of gay marriage. Just that they are not out to support it.

Cool story bro, but I actually called them deluded bigoted zealots and WS started the topic.
The poll question should be changed to: Are you, in general sense tolerant to other human beings?

There is quite a big line between subjects that ARE actually debatable and things that are ridiculous. Everyone has tolerance, however some of us ignore it.

I respect the opinion of others, right up to the point where it starts discriminating or hurting other people.

If I may ask, when the United States across the board approves of gay marriage, will this lead to having polygamy, bigamy, and have transexual marriage legalized? If so, I will expect more confusion on how these family structures will operate (and provide for the child(ren), which is another why I don't support gay marriage.

Another reason for my so-called "bigoted" conservative religious stance on same-sex marriage is that one of the purposes of marriage is for procreation, but I'll save that for another day.

Ermm... Doens't it help that, since gay couples can't procreate, they adopt, and therefore the amount of parentless children decreases somehow?

Yes, I know they can adopt, and the number of adopted orphans will increase. Did I say there was another bad about that?

Considering that more than half of marriages end in divorce, I don't see what the big deal is. There's a lot of straight couples out there that are in no condition to raise a child, what about them? If children are really prioritized above personal freedoms, less than half the human population would ever legally be able to have a kid, regardless of sexuality.

What is marriage? It's just a bunch of legal crap saying that two people can live together with legal and financial benefits. It has absolutely nothing to do with reproduction. You don't have to be married to make a baby, and you don't have to make a baby if you're married.

Um, I don't see how allowing people to marry someone of the same sex will lead to those others, and besides, transexuals can already get married, because they have changed sexes and can marry the sex they used to be. There is no law against that. Furthermore, the children in these family structures would be provided for the same way other children are. Their parents will get jobs, make money, and buy the things the children need.

So the approval of homosexual marriage could lead to those other events you mentionned? Following that logic, I could say people shouldn't drink alcohol because it will lead them to start smoking marijuana, then they would start becoming violent and then, finally, they would take drugs and their condition would worsen... In debates, this kind of statement is called the "downslope effect argument" and does not represent a valid argument since it is not based on true and valid facts but on false assumptions.

Saying you believe in legalizing gay marriage doesn't make you tolerant or intolerant. The way you act makes you intolerant or tolerant.

Being against gay marriage makes you intolerant towards gay people because you are denying them rights straight people do have. Discrimination comes from intolerance.
