Twilight

About this series I can say, I have read all of the books, and I watched 3 of the movies and was semi-subjected to the fourth. I read the books simply because my sister bought them, and I had nothing else to read. Once I started it was like a trainwreck, and I couldn't look away despite how awful it was. Bella was the most annoying character in the story, which sucks since she's the lead. Imo, most of the werewolves and several of the vampires were more interesting than any of the main characters, but they're nothing spectacular either. I really dislike this series, as it seems most people here do. I will even agree with what someone said pages back about preferring to watch Dora the Explorer.

What I will say in favor of the books is that Stephanie Meyer gives us other writers inspiration. If that can get published, I know my book can. ;)

This series is disgraceful to the word "vampire," and if I want to read about vampires, I will read Dracula, or Carmilla, or some other series that actually makes vampires out as what they are, as opposed to sparkly sissies.

However, I will admit to having bought some merch- nothing much just a $2 bracelet set, and that was because I liked the way they looked, not because they were Twilight. They were New Moon wolf stuff and I really like wolves... and it was just $2. If it had cost any more than that I wouldn't have bought it anyway.

...Also I have a fleece blanket my aunt for some reason thought I'd want that has Edward on it. :grumpy: It's too soft to get rid of it, so I pretend it's Cedric rather than Edward, but I don't even know where it is anymore.

The least thing I could do, is give the Twilight director some credit for at least choosing the right idiots for the roles of what would be the ''worst'' love story ever. One would think Pattinson and Stewart are completely cut out for that job, concidering their real-life affairs are as much of a fail as that of the figures they represent in Twilight.

3. The vampires: All authors have to do some research before writing an actual novel. Even if it's a fantasy novel, they must do research on mythical creatures and whatever they want their inspiration from. Stephanie Meyer did not do any research on vampires and made them all up to be complete "original". Since when do vampires sparkle in the sunlight when they're supposed to burn and how can a vampire be a vegetarian if they eat deer or some other animal and not eat human blood?! Also, vampires do not have superhuman strength and other superhero powers.

Well that last part is not entirely true. Vampires have been depicted with superhuman abilities. super human strength, shape shifting, mind control are just to name a few.

By the way, Hotel Translyvania took a shot at Twilight by having Adam Sandler (Dracula) get annoyed by it.

But I agree, It is horrible. Hotel Translyvania is infinately better.

Well i know im just asking for trouble posting here, BUT, I am actually a twilight fan.

*waits for the angry mob*

I have liked Twilight since 2007 back when it was just a book series, and I actually dont like the movies because I think they are a very poor representation of the books. However, all the drama about the sparkling vampires is totally un-needed. I think it shows originality and creativity that Stephenie didnt want to conform to the ideas of your average hollywood vampire. She made it her own, and we should admire her for that not hate her for it.

All those years in the shadows I thought, no one knows what this feels like!
But now I see I was wrong. You don’t have to be alone Jack, I believe in you.”

Don't worry, only because of the fact that you don't like the movies, there might still be some hope for you left ;)

I'm not saying you're wrong, but imo vampires are supposed to be intimidating if necessary, and if they're sparkling that's not very scary. It would have made more sense if she had written faeries sparkling imo than vampires. I'm not saying she should have done everything exactly the way other people have done it cos there are loads of different kinds of vampires in books and TV and movies that work just fine. All I'm saying is I dislike the sparkling because it seems to contradict the image vampires should have. While not all vampires are "beautiful" and not all are harmed by sunlight, not all have super strength and not all need to drink human blood to survive, one thing that is always constant is the vampire's ability to look menacing. I feel like anything that sparkles is not menacing, and would be hard-pressed to appear that way.

That aside, I feel like the whole series wouldn't have been bad if the protagonist wasn't the way she is. I feel like Bella is the main downfall for the series. (In reference to the actual story, not necessarily the acting or whatnot.) Of course, this is just my opinion and I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone liking the series, I just don't happen to be fond of it myself.

Hey
Many people like the movie.
It may not be the best but it took some effort to write the books.
Please try to show a little appreciation

As a writer I understand it took effort to write. However, that doesn't mean people who don't like it shouldn't be able to say so. She wrote a four book series, that takes work. Not one of the four is good in my opinion though. Does that mean I don't appreciate the effort put into it? No, it means I don't like the books. The people here who don't like them are just voicing their opinion that the story isn't their cup of tea and why.
