The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Yeah, it definitely shouldn't have got a G rating, that's for sure. Even TLK shouldn't be rated G in my opinion! Although I saw both these films at a very young age and I was ok lol, but other children might find them frightening etc.
I absolutely agree. If The Incredibles (a Pixar movie) got a PG rating, then why didn't HoND? A G rating for this films seems very out of place due to the very dark themes explored in it.

Exactly! I haven't seen The Incredibles so I can't comment on whether or not that rating was accurate, but I can't imagine there being anything like the topics HoND brings up. I think overall Disney just did a lousy job at marketing this particular film.

Plus more people like to watch films with more mature ratings :P

Yeah ^ They probably thought a high rating would put people off, but it tends to work the other way around. I became much more interested in Tangled, for example, when I heard it was getting a PG rating lol.

Frollo doing a photoshoot for HoND comes to mind actually. I really don't know how I imagine these things.

Yep, because you catch a glimpse of Eugene's blood for half a second.......so obviously not kid friendly! Lol. As if kids can't handle a bit of blood...

Frollo....I don't even know what to say about Frollo. I love him and hate him at the same time. Complicated feels right here. I can honestly say that he's my favourite villain ever though, because he actually scares me. I mean, Voldemort hugs people at least. Could you imagine Frollo hugging someone? No. That means he's worse than Voldemort, and that's saying something.

They weren't AS strict about ratings for family films back in the 90's when the film came out. By the same logic, TLK should also be rated PG.

Very true. Most family films released around that time (and earlier) got away with G ratings when by today's standards, they would've been considered PG at least. Whether this is a good or bad thing, I'm not sure.

I think it's a bad thing that films these days will get a PG rating for less than films I watched as a kid would have. I mean I watched all kinds of those movies, so did the rest of my generation, and it didn't adversely affect us. Why should our ratings get stricter now?
