The Official FiM Fan Club: Mach IV

I doubt that Twilight will leave her friends to live in Canterlot. At this point her friends are as close as family can be, I'm pretty sure she'll stay in Ponyville, which has become her home.

Also you just mentioned that only royalty can live in Canterlot. Well, that's where she lived before Ponyville. Sure, she was Celestia's student, but keep in mind her brother is royalty as well, so... it's not like the princess plot appeared out of nowhere.

Also, I think going with the princess plot was predictable in a way. I did not see it coming, but if they were going to choose something like a princess plot, I believe this was the way they'd go. I mean, the show is aimed at little girls, and little girls LOVE princesses. So I can totally see what the show creators did here.

Honestly, also see this as somewhat realistic. Things change. Sometimes the change is big, and sometimes it is small. What has happened to Twilight is big, and it will take some adjusting. But either way, it's a change and she has to react and live with whatever life brings her. It's not like she was Pikachu in Pokemon and had a choice. She just changed.

Also it was not just that one accomplishment that turned her into an alicorn. It was all the things she has learned and accomplished over the past 3 years. It was building up to something.
Say if you're leveling up in a game, you need a certain amount of experience, don't you? Well, sometimes you just need as little as 5 experience points to level up. Perhaps this was just the last push she needed before she became an alicorn.

It seems so overwhelming for me to see how much criticism this finale has gotten. I'm sure Twilight would never abandon her friends. Just because she's now an alicorn, that doesn't mean she'll give up everything that means the most to her: Friends.

Besides, we have to see how season 4 is gonna turn out to be. I hope Twilight will still remain as a good character.

Did you even watch the episode? That's not how it ended. Watch the last minute of the episode and you'll see no indication of Twilight ever leaving her friends.

The reasoning behind making Twilight an alicorn is quite simple, really.

Fluttershy wouldn't want to be a princess.

AJ had no interest in magic. She is an Earth pony, and her destiny lies along a different path.

Rainbow Dash's dream was to fly with the Wonderbolts, and she got that.

Pinkie Pie... well, she's Pinkie.

Rarity might possibly have wanted to become a princess, but for all the wrong reasons.

But, come on, did you really expect Twilight not to someday be an alicorn? She was Celestia's student. This was more or less her graduation.

No, no, no. I did see the whole episode. I know she didn't give up her friends. I'm just making out a point. Sorry for my wording. :(

I have seen the episode, and I was making an implication based on her becoming a way, and the way she was kind of treating people as if they were commoners after she became a princess. Seriously, watch the episode again if you don't see that.

I don't know what you're talking about.

"A little while ago, my teacher and mentor, Princess Celestia, sent me to live in Ponyville. She sent me to study friendship, which is something I didn't really care much about. But now, on a day like today, I can honestly say I wouldn't be standing here if it weren't for the friendships I've made with all of you. Each one of you taught me something about friendship, and for that, I will always be grateful. Today, I consider myself the luckiest pony in Equestria. Thank you friends. Thank you, everypony."

That's what she said, word for word. I have no idea how you arrived to such an absurd conclusion.

And you know she's not making crap up, because she already showed how much she cared about her friends in the first 5 minutes of the episode.

What Regulus said. I don't see her being stuck up at all and thinking she's more important. I mean, she had to be TOLD to hold a speech. She didn't automatically start boasting about being a princess.

Stuck up? Did I miss something? She only gave a speech after Celestria told her to give one. She never once seemed to be treating anyone like commoners. Honestly I think it was one of the better episodes. It really shows what she's learned through out the seasons in one episode. It showed character development.

I really don't think Twilight treated anyone like a commoner. She did a speech after she was asked (and, actually, expected) to. Even that speech was rather humble, and with lot of appreciation for her friends and all the other ponies who helped her through the way. She didn't start like this:
"Oh, my dear subjects. It is a real pleasure being your princess. I promise I'll do my best. And you'll love me..."

She was confused. We all would be in her position. She never expected that to happen.
All she wanted was to study magic and become better Celestia's student. Nothing more. That led her to Ponyville where she met Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow, Fluttershy and Applejack. They thought her that friendship is important to her. Then she started doing incredible stuff. But more for herself and her friends (and, maybe, for reputation in Celestia's eyes) than for any reward of this sort.
