Hi guys, yeah, checking in.
On Day 9 of no power. Thank god I have a woodburning stove because it's been below freezing the last 2 nights. Currently, we're starting to get the effects of the Nor'easter and it's snow flurrying. The time change hasn't helped, either, it's dark when I get out of work now, so daylight is scarce and at a premium. Our water *was* okay, but got compromised 2 days ago so it's back to boiling it for potable use. Apart from the first 2 days when they had leaks to fix, I have had natural gas coming into the house, though, and a gas stove, so doing that and cooking doesn't pose a problem like it does for those with electric that have been using their grills outside. I live on the Raritan Bay and the far side of my neighborhood lost about 20-25 homes to the storm surge so I wasn't expecting it'd be a easy road. FEMA finally got here on Sunday and I've been swinging by there after work each day for ice to keep the cooler going with for perishable foods (because all the supermarkets around here lost their ice when they lost power,) and as of yesterday there's a hot meals station for those with electric stoves. Happy the gas line situation is improving, I was able to fill up yesterday and it "only" took me a half hour!
