Saying you hate a genre seems almost sort of ignorant to me. Almost nobody dislikes all music within any genre. There is excellent and awful music in every genre, and it's just a matter of exposing yourself to the good versus the bad. It becomes almost psychological; I used to automatically hate rap music on principle until I stopped long enough to look underground and realize it's an awesome genre with amazing artists and songs. You just have to look for it. :3
Like people say they hate rap based off Kanye, Jay Z, Eminem... that's three artists man. Mainstream names. There are thousands, tens of thousands of hip hop artists. Dig deep and find the awesome stuff that's waiting.
And I don't get the hate people have for country. I divide country into two subdivisions: pop country and real country. And I like both of them! Pop country like Brad Paisley, Billy Currington, Zac Brown Band, etc, is just summer. Rollin' to the beach, sun shining, windows down, heck yeah I'd like some country on the stereo! Deep country, like the classic stuff, that's got its place too. Nothing like some Gram Parsons playing while I settle down on the porch with a cold drink and a good book.
@jelle, Metal music gives a lot of pop a run for it's money in terms of lack of musicality/creativity, for the most part. "YO LOOK HOW FAST I CAN GO UP AND DOWN THE MINOR PENTATONIC DUDE." "NO WAY BRO CHECK OUT HOW FAST I CAN PLAY THIS BLASTBEAT" Doesn't mean it's necessarily bad, because I love some metalish stuff like Underoath and Haste the Day and Burden of a Day, but it's not musically creative music. It's just technical.
