So many people have seen bigfoot like creatures, that there has to be something. What are the odds that all of them were people in costumes?
Pretty slim. The chances are a bit higher, however, that people simply mistook any number of wildlife in a particular area and let their superstitious beliefs get the better of their senses. How many stories do you see where someone honestly goes out with the mindset, "Bigfoot does NOT exist", and then make a "sighting" and actively change their mindset to, "Wow. I saw Bigfoot. He exists. I have to find him."
It happens almost exclusively the other way around. People who already believe that there are supernatural creatures out there, hear second-hand that there's something out there, and they go, "Ohmygoshohmygosh I KNEW IT!" And then they go out, hear a strange noise in a tree, or see some random animal darting out of the way when they come tromping through the woods in their backyard, get freaked out, and go, "IT WAS BIGFOOT. I KNOW IT."
Aliens are on a completely separate level. Considering the sheer size of our universe, it's extremely arrogant to think that the little hunk of rock we're living on is the only place that is fit for life. There are almost undoubtedly other places in some distant galaxies where life has sprung up, much as it has here on Earth. Do we have evidence of it? Not at all. But we can be reasonable sure, from a purely statistical standpoint, that there is somewhere else out there that can support and is supporting life of some kind.
Bigfoot, on the other hand, is confined to small areas of land here on Earth. Areas that have been searched top and bottom, over and over again, for many many years. If such things did exist, we'd have found more solid evidence for them than claims of "sightings" or blurred images of friends in costumes from people with no link to the scientific community whatsoever beyond a class or two in high school.
