I thought the finale was pretty good. Loved it. Lets just see how Twilight is gonna be like now as an alicorn. :)

I loved the finale. I even liked 7 songs in one episode XD . It suited it well. Twilight looks awesome with her wings, I just don't think she'll ever be a good flyer. We'll see about that.

I just wonder how the season 4 will be when the main character is in royalty. Nah, we can just wait and see.

I thought the finale was awesome! So many tears were shed when Princess Celestia started singing. Like everyone else says, I wonder how season 4 will be like now that Twilight is an alicorn ... I love her new mane by the way. Speaking of season 4, does anyone know when it starts?

It really should have been a two-parter at the very least, but I really can't complain. I think this may have been the best episode yet.

Tara Strong's voice is what really made this. That scene with Celestia was just...

I don't even know what to say.

BAHHHH! I JUST SAW IT, GUYS!!!

Gosh, this episode was BRILLIANT! People who know me know that I love musicals, so all the songs were lovely. It made it seem very Disney'ish, which I liked.

Also, Twilight is an alicorn. WOW! I did not see that coming! I think it's awesome though and I love her new look. I love that after 3 years she turned into an alicorn, it shows character development. Can't wait for season four, but I don't know about a premiere date yet. Will possibly sometime in the fall, or it might have a summer premiere. We'll have to wait and see.

Overall I thought it was a great episode. I agree with Reg though, it could've been a two-parter. But with the little amount of time in one episode I felt they did a good job! :)

They rushed it, they could have made it in two parts.

How else would they have kept the show interesting. Not that it isn't.

Yeah, the episode was good, but a bit rushed. I rate it [censored] out of [censored].
Not telling you my score, it'll start a war.

I hated it. Totally ruined the series, was totally rushed, and is possibly the worst episode of the entire series so far.

Seems like FiM has just about lost all of its appeal for anyone other than a little girl. I didn't start watching this show to see PRINCESS TWILIGHT SPARKLE THE GENERIC CHARACTER. I started watching because of the brilliant writing, and at the time good character development. I don't consider making a character more generic as being good development, but contributing to the downfall of the series.

Also, the songs seemed rushed and generic, too. Overall, this episode was a total train wreck to me, and actually made me cry a few times out of pure frustration.

The Season 3 finale was... pretty bad. One of the worst episodes in the series, sadly. I didn't HATE it, but it did nothing for me.

Season 2 was absolute brilliance, even some Season 3 episodes were, and this had none of that brilliance. I think the show may end up sucking now, but I have a glimmer of hope that Season 4 will be at least good. The story was rushed, the songs had high production quality but were also rushed, and the characters seemed to have minimal amounts of their great personalities. I'm not sure why people loved it so much. We need to tell Hasbro we want better, or we may be stuck with minimum effort tripe.

^ I don't see it that way. Twilight Sparkle is hardly a generic character.

The episode really demonstrated what the entire show is all about, and was merely a conclusion to the entire first three seasons.

Of course there wasn't much to the plot of the episode itself, but this isn't a stand-alone episode. It was rushed, but that is irrelevant. Even if the whole cutie mark switch thing had never happened, the episode would still make sense.

Twilight brought the mane 6 together and used the elements of harmony to reunite Princess Celestia with her sister. They also stopped Discord, Queen Chrysalis, and King Sombra, while the other Princesses did hardly anything.

It was known from the very beginning that Twilight was Celestia's student. All she wanted was to study magic. There were many times when she failed, but her friends helped her through. Over time, as she went on all these adventures, she learned everything she needed to know.

Obviously, at some point, Celestia would have nothing left to teach her. That was this episode. All her struggles finally paid off, and she became more than she had even dreamed of.

I hardly understand how this episode only appeals to little girls. It's not actually about becoming a princess at all. That wasn't the message. The message was that helping her friends led her to fulfill her place in the circle of life.

TL;DR: This was essentially 20 minutes of Simba ascending Pride Rock after fighting Scar.

That's hardly a good comparison here. Simba's ascent of pride rock at the end was a well thought out scene. This episode just totally rushed to make Twilight a princess, and this episode just made it to where it just felt like we were cheated into Twilight becoming a princess.

What is it that Twilight truly learns at the end of this? I mean, her friends helped her with all of those things, so why is it only Twilight that gets to be a princess in the end? It just totally ruins the message of the show, because this wasn't about friendship, this was just about her getting fame and being a princess. Twilight's entire character revolved around her making mistakes and learning from them and becoming better from them.

What mistake did she make here? What did she truly gain from this experience? That her destiny was to turn her back on her friends and become a princess? Do you really think that very likely abandoning your friends to live in Canterlot (where only royalty can reside btw), really emphasizes the moral of friendship in the end?
